    The Gateway is a large open-air retail complex centered on the historic Union Pacific Depot, on the west side of Downtown. The multipurpose area has wide walkways, an open plaza with a central fountain and over 80 retail stores.

    There’s something for most shopping preferences at The Gateway, with popular stores including Barnes & Noble, Abercrombie & Fitch, and Victoria’s Secret. However, there’s more than just shopping to do there. You can also visit the Discovery Gateway Children’s Museum and Clark Planetarium. It’s an excellent shopping space to take the whole family.

    Gardner Village

    Stroll around the charming mill site-turned-outdoor mall

    Gardner Village is a beautiful outdoor shopping mall inside an old flour-milling site from the 1870s. The historic Gardner Mill still retains original buildings that once housed a blacksmith and mattress factory. The well-preserved structures stand as a reminder that the place played an important role in the development of Salt Lake City’s southern end.

    You can stroll along the brick-lined paths and shop at boutique-style stores and locally-owned restaurants. There are also plenty of chic home décor stores, unique stationery products and antique shops. A worthy stop is the Chocolate Covered Wagon, a well-known candy store where you can sample some delectable candies.

    Salt Lake City’s monthly Urban Flea Market is a great community outlet for vendors and shoppers to buy and sell vintage, antique and handmade goods.     You can find plenty of hidden treasures, from vintage clothing to antique furniture and locally made handicrafts. Admission is just a couple of dollars and kids can enter for free. It’s a great way to spend a Sunday in Salt Lake City.
