The Pocono Mountains, or colloquially just the Poconos, are a small mountain chain in Pennsylvania famed for luxury resorts, family entertainment and nature experiences. The Delaware Water Gap on the eastern edge of the range offers riverfront beaches, recreational facilities and bird watching. Bushkill Falls offers hiking trails and walking bridges over deep gorges. To the north, Lake Wallenpaupack offers boating and fishing on cool, clear waters. Ski resorts abound here such as the Camelback Ski Resort, Blue Mountain Resort and Shawnee Mountain Ski Area.
Many ski resorts offer waterparks in the summer and are open all year long. Camelbeach Mountain Outdoor Waterpark offers waterslides, pools, rapids and entertainment. To capture serene scenic views in a more relaxed setting, the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway offers loop rides on vintage trains. NASCAR fans can take in a race at the Tricky Triangle Pocono Raceway. For historic education, the No. 9 Coal Mine and Museum showcases the history of mining, once an essential part of the local economy.
