Variety Playhouse

The Variety Playhouse is an intimate music venue that hosts a variety of music performances in Atlanta, Georgia. Originally constructed as a cinema in 1940, the converted space retains some of its original art-deco elements and vintage charm.

Located in Little 5 Points on Euclid Avenue, the cosy space hosts performances in a wide variety of musical genres, from indie and electronic to rock, folk, bluegrass, and jazz. The venue space has an open area in front of the stage for standing or general admission events, as well as balcony seating on the upper floors.

Highlights of Variety Playhouse

The colourful history behind Variety Playhouse began when the building was originally opened as a cinema, before changing hands multiple times in the following decades. Later, the space was outfitted for live theater-style shows, before finally receiving a major overhaul in 2015 into a full-scale space dedicated to live music performances.

Variety Playhouse has hosted a long list of musicians, bands, and performers on it’s historic stage, including Adele, the Dresden Dolls, Ghostface Killah, Gnarls Barkley, and Modest Mouse. The venue’s acoustics make it ideal for recording, leading many artists to record live albums or tracks at Variety Playhouse.

Variety Playhouse does not allow large bags or full-size backpacks in the venue, and all bags are subject to search upon entry. The venue is accessible for wheelchairs, and has accessible facilities for people with disabilities.
