10 Best Beaches in The Hamptons

Main Beach is one of the most popular beaches in the Hamptons. Located in East Hampton, Main Beach has lifeguards on duty and strict regulations against fishing, watercrafting, and surfing in designated swimming areas, so it's a great beach for families with children. 

Known for its cleanliness, Main Beach has facilities like equipment rentals, bathrooms, showers, a snack bar, and other seaside amenities. The beach is open every day throughout the peak travel season for a fun-filled beach holiday in the Hamptons.

Located in Southampton, Coopers Beach is a clean, quiet beach with lifeguards on duty and a variety of seaside amenities. It's a great beach for families due to its gentle surf, on-site bathrooms, and nearby snack bar with picnic areas. 

You can also find rentals of beach chairs, beach umbrellas, and other amenities. Parking close to the beach is possible but rather expensive. You could always rent a bike in Southampton to get around instead. Nearby, you'll find Southampton attractions like dining and shopping.

Renowned for its surfing, Ditch Plains Beach is located on one of the easternmost points of Long Island. The beach has soft sand and a dramatic cliff backdrop, as well as some of the best waves on the East Coast. 

The beach is free if you arrive on bike or foot, and there's a lifeguard during the busy summer months. Nearby, you'll find a snack shack with delicious wraps and salads. Offshore, the water is very deep, making it a prime spot for fall surfing.

Kirk Park Beach offers a bohemian vibe that draws a rich mix of people including locals, families, travellers, and students. The beach is quiet and clean, making it perfect for sunbathing and swimming, and there's a lot to do nearby. 

You can hang out at the Montauk Beach House for dance parties or have an upscale night out at the Surf Lodge. Plenty of high-end seafood restaurants are nearby for gourmet fish tacos, seared scallops, steamed clams, and other fresh-off-the-boat delights with speciality cocktails.

Hither Hills State Park is a beautiful white-sand beach outside of Montauk Village. The beach attracts a lot of families from the city, especially on weekends, but there's still plenty of space. The park is a popular spot for fishing, biking, and hiking, especially in the cranberry bog and along the nature trail through Phantom Forest, a collection of bare branches near the beach. 

Another attraction in the area is the Napeague Bird Conservation Area, which is home to many shorebird species for birdwatching and photography.

Cupsogue Beach County Park is a barrier beach in a secluded area off of Westhampton Island. Because it's located away from the main traveller areas, Cupsogue Beach County Park tends to attract a quiet crowd. Families come for the quiet atmosphere and safe swimming areas provided by the sand bars. 

Seal sightings are common at Cupsogue Beach County Park, and you can get night-fishing permits to catch saltwater bass after dark. There's a boardwalk nearby that offers shops, dining, and amusements.

Located in Westhampton, Ponquogue Beach is a local gem. The ocean beach is next to an inlet and offers a variety of amenities including a snack stand, bathrooms, showers, picnic areas, and beach equipment rentals. There's paid parking near the beach. 

No lifeguards patrol Ponquogue Beach, so swimming is only recommended for strong, experienced swimmers. Still, the beach is one of the most attractive in the Hamptons and is perfect for sunbathing, wading, and evenings watching the sunset or having a picnic.
