The Historic New Orleans Collection is a museum and research centre that's dedicated to preserving the Gulf South region of the United States. Inside the intriguing museum, you'll find a wide variety of exhibits that relate to the Gulf South and to the numerous people who influenced it.
This museum is suitable for visitors of any age, from kids to adults, who enjoy learning about history. Most visitors spend about an hour or 2 here in total, but you may wish to spend longer to more thoroughly examine the many engaging displays.

The Historic New Orleans Collection highlights
Within The Historic New Orleans Collection, you'll find several different sections with their own impressive collections. Amongst the collections, you'll find legendary exhibits like the Tennessee Williams Collection. The William Russell Jazz Collection is also quite popular and features extensive jazz memorabilia, including instruments, records, photos, and more.
One of the more interesting exhibits in this museum is the Germans in New Orleans collection. You'll find quite a few important artefacts highlighting the German settlers of New Orleans and the influence German culture and people have had on the development of the city. If you're Louisiana-German, you may even be able to find your genealogy.

When you visit The Historic New Orleans Collection, keep the following in mind. Admission to this museum is completely free, so it's perfect for travellers on a budget. If you want a tour guide to take you through the museum, however, that will cost a small fee.
If you're driving yourself to the museum, you'll find public parking well within walking distance of the museum. Metered street parking is also available throughout the district. Alternatively, you can take the bus or a tram, with the closest stop about half a mile away.
