Fox Theatre

The Fox Theatre is an iconic and historic performing arts venue in Midtown that hosts a wide variety of performances, including plays, dances, and concerts. Additionally, it hosts a summer film series you can enjoy.

As one of the most legendary spots in the city, this theatre is suitable for all people. Kids and adults alike can find entertainment at one of its many shows, though each individual show may have a more specific target audience. Your visiting time can vary quite a bit, with each show having a different runtime, but expect to spend close to 2 hours in most cases.

Fox Theatre highlights

One of the most impressive aspects of the Fox Theatre is its unique design. It was originally built as a Shrine Temple, so it boasts a Moorish style unlike any buildings that surround it. Inside, you'll find a 4,665-seat auditorium with lavish surroundings.

If you see a show at this theatre that features the organ, you're sure to be impressed. Named Mighty Mo, this theatre organ boasts impressive and massive pipes with the largest being around 32 feet long. The organ can mimic just about every sound in a full orchestra, as well as a gong, sleigh bells, drums, xylophone, marimba, and glockenspiel.

Good to know when visiting the Fox Theatre

When you visit the Fox Theatre, keep a few things in mind. Many people like to dress up in fancy clothes to go to the theatre, but it's not a strict requirement. If you want to see a performance in casual clothes, you're more than welcome to, with the exception of some special opening night events.

You won't find any parking on site here, but there are paid car parks and decks surrounding the Fox. You can take the bus and get off at the stop right outside the theatre, or take the train to the North Avenue Transit Station.
