    The Watts Cemetery Chapel is an iconic destination most widely known for its intricate designs and Celtic Revival architecture with an art nouveau twist.     All of its intricacies exist thanks to the dedication of Mary Fraser-Tytler, a talented architect who designed this 19th-century masterpiece. You can see it for yourself in Compton west of the town centre.

    Loseley Park is a large property where you'll find plenty of well-maintained parkland with fields and lakes along with a 16th-century manor house that you can tour. The opulently decorated manor is a fascinating building to visit as it contains an impressive great hall and is one of the only places where you'll find a genuine painting of Anne Boleyn.

    The gardens are quite popular and are separated into distinct sections, each with its own theme. You'll find a rose garden, a flower garden and an herb garden within the area. You can explore it all to the southwest of Guildford in Charterhouse.

    High Street is one of the most popular streets in town and is home to a variety of shops and restaurants housed within impressive historical buildings. The street is still cobbled, so you can take in that old-world feel as you shop for all the latest in fashion, accessories and food. Walking along High Street is easy no matter when you visit.

    It's open to traffic in the early morning and late afternoon, but vehicles are blocked from entering the street at other times. You can find High Street running through the town centre from the River Wey to the A3100.

    Greyfriars Vineyard is a local wine producer specializing in English sparkling wine, and you can take a tour of the vineyard while enjoying a taste of their creations. Their wine production is meant to take advantage of the unique soil conditions found in The Downs.

    The conditions are reminiscent of those found in France's Champagne region, so you'll find a lot of similarities between Greyfriars champagne and the ones from France. You can visit this vineyard by heading a few miles west of the town centre on the main highway.

    Spike Heritage Centre

    Spike Heritage Centre is a historical site where visitors can learn about the struggles that poor and working-class people faced in Guildford more than a century ago. The Spike housed vagrants, homeless people and others in crude conditions where they had to work hard for simple survival.

    Tours are available at the centre in which a guide will take you through the dark rooms and facilities to show just how bad the unfortunate souls who lived here had it. Make sure to dress warmly for the occasion, as the interior is often quite cold. You'll find Spike Heritage Centre east of the town centre near St Luke's Park.
