The Isle of Man is best known as a motorcycling mecca, but there’s more to this tiny island country between England and Ireland than its extreme Tourist Trophy (TT) races. When the thundering sounds of revving bikes from around the world aren’t zipping through the lush countryside, there’s quaint villages and plenty of historic landmarks to discover between its rugged coastline and hilly centre.

Even in the Isle of Man’s capital, Douglas, you can learn about the island’s unique and old traditions that trace back to its Celtic and Viking roots. Pieces of Victorian engineering also stand out in plain sight among the rolling hills as well as on top of the isle’s highest mountain, from which you can see England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales on the horizon.
