What you need to know before you go

Lincolnshire is a county in England’s East Midlands region that is famous for its windmills and seaside resorts as well as historic and National Trust sites and family fun. Some exciting historic sites here include the 11th-century fortress of Lincoln Castle and the contemporary Lincoln Cathedral with its Gothic spires. The National Trust – Belton House offers a centuries-old country estate with free-roaming herds of deer. The National Trust – Tattershall Castle is an iconic medieval fortress built from red brick. You can even visit Sir Isaac Newton’s home at Woolsthorpe Manor House.

For the kids, Natureland Seal Sanctuary has a sea life zoo and rescue centre, while Fantasy Island is a family resort and theme park with thrill rides and live shows. To relax and recharge, Butlin’s Skegness Resort offers full spa facilities and fine dining. For a sense of medieval romance, walk the winding street of Steep Hill with homes dating to the 12th century, or explore the Grimsthorpe Castle Park & Gardens with ornate tended hedges and flowerbeds.
