You can admire fine stained glass and medieval masonry in Sheffield Cathedral's Shrewsbury Chapel, then listen to regular performances of church music, including choral evensong, sung eucharist on Sunday mornings, and free organ and piano recitals at lunchtime.
Founded more than 1,000 years ago, rebuilt in the 15th century and restored during the 19th century, the gothic-modernist Cathedral is claimed to be the oldest building in the city. It's also sometimes used for exhibitions of visual art. You should try to get a guided tour, if possible, to make the most of your visit.

Intimate theatre that that brings you close to the action
- Ambiente nocturno
The Tanya Moiseiwitsch Playhouse shares a building with the more famous Crucible Theatre, home to the World Snooker Championships, but shouldn’t be overlooked in favour of its older sibling. The Playhouse is a more intimate venue that hosts visiting companies and small-scale productions. It's also home to chamber music company Ensemble 360.
