High Force waterfall is just up the river from its more famed cousin Aira Force, and is something of a hidden gem, offering beautiful and serene natural vistas. It lies along the River Tees about halfway between Glenridding and Watermillock. These falls are less a showcase of nature’s fury and more a picturesque and serene spot to kick back and relax in the beauty of the forest. Since they’re less known than their down-river cousin, they draw fewer crowds.
Another option is to take a side trip across the hill, where you'll discover the forest opening up to spectacular panoramic views of Ullswater. They are roughly an hour and 15 minutes east of the park centre.

Low Force Waterfall is a set of falls that rises 5.5 metres high along the River Tees, just downstream from its High Force cousin and the site of a historic bridge. The historic bridge, the Wynch Bridge, was built in 1830, and it’s recommended that only one person crosses at a time due to its age. The Low Force falls are part of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and occupy the historic boundary between County Durham and the North Riding of Yorkshire.
The falls are famed as the location for parts of the film 1917, when signs were installed warning visitors not to be alarmed at the prosthetic bodies strewn about. Today, they offer stunning photo ops.
