Bremen’s great restaurants and culinary scene are hugely important to its residents. Visitors can gain real insight into this historic city through its local cuisine, especially seafood. Schlachte Embankment is a great place to dine al fresco while taking in views along the Weser. You can visit Ratskeller to sample all things traditional.
Naturally, you’ll want to pair your meal with a pint of Beck’s beer. If you’re steering clear of alcohol, try a coffee, which is one of Bremen’s lesser-known but equally delicious imports. Read on for our favourite places to eat in Bremen.

Gaststätte Kleiner Olymp
Cosy Schnoor restaurant offering Bremen specialities
- Comida
Gaststatte Kleiner Olymp is a great place for Bremen classics and beers. It sits on a side street in Schnoor, and with only a tiny sign as an indication. Occupying 3 floors of a pretty house with al fresco seating in a pleasant square, there’s a lot to recommend this place visually.
Food-wise, we highly recommend the bremer labskaus (corned beef and potatoes) and knipp (sausage made with groats and meat). For beer fans, you can sample a brew made in the same district as the restaurant – you can’t get more local than that.
