Wonderful stay at MonkBridge House. Paul and Fiona were incredibly warm, friendly, and knowledgeable hosts who made us feel very welcome. The breakfasts were delicious and thoughtfully prepared. The rooms were bright, spotless, and well-equipped with everything we needed. We especially loved the thoughtful touches like the freshly baked shortbread cookies in the room. Highly recommend for anyone visiting York.
hotel/bed and breakfast has nice friendly atmosphere, excellent breakfast, and is in walking distance of old town York. Only issue is limited parking in back, but they managed somehow by having cars that were leaving earlier closest to exit path. Helpful with things like where to get laundry done, where to go for meals, and unusual sites in old town that we would have never thought of. Will definitely stay there again.
Wonderful place to spend a coupe of noght! The staff are all so helpful and friendly! The chef prepares an amazing breakfast each morning, too! The rooms are clean, lovely and comfortable! I highly recommend this BnB. My husband and I had a wonderful two night stay!
Very nice room ("Guy Fawkes")- comfy bed, great bathroom. The hotel is nicely appointed, great, quirky interior decor. The location could not be better for attractions and dining.
One caveat- those with arthritis may find the doors a problem. The knobs are round, slick and somewhat difficult to turn. Plus, the doors are heavy.
This room was huge. The breakfast was included and was great. Yogurt, fruit, self serve waffles, bagels, croissants, muffins, eggs, hash browns, ham, and more. Staff was extremely helpful and kind. Within walking distance of all the places you want to go in York.
Very convenient place to stay if visiting York. Two minute walk to the walled city. Nice, offstreet, parking at a very reasonable price. Staff couldn't be friendlier. Would definitely stay there again if we went back.
St. Mary’s Guest House was everything we needed for our 5-night stay in York. My friend and I stayed in a twin room, which was clean and perfectly comfortable, albeit nothing fancy. Breakfast was great and the staff were just lovely. We enjoyed the short walk each morning and evening to and from the station or city centre.

This is a nice hotel with comfortable modern air-conditioned rooms for travelers. The bathroom was adequate, although we wished for a shower door in addition to a glass partition. The location just on the other side of the river from the older city gave us broad views of the riverfront and the cathedral beyond. It is easy to access by car and extremely walkable from hotel to the cathedral. In-site parking was overbooked and staff directed us to a convenient deck 2 blocks away, and credited us...
The was very clean and comfortable, we were in the back of the hotel which was actually nice because of how quiet it was. All of the staff were very friendly and professional. The breakfast was classic British full breakfast with the baked tomato…Excellent location not far from from the Micklengate and close to old town York. The bar and other sitting areas were very comfortable and welcoming.
