While planning our trip to the UK, my daughter and I wanted to either stay at a Manor house or Castle. Middlethorpe Hall was the perfect choice. It is several miles outside York, but less than 10 minutes by uber or taxi. The staff was gracious and solicitous. We arrived just in time for tea. The food was fantastic, generous, and the location in the the ball room facing the beautiful green lawn was exactly what we had hoped for. Our room was not in the main house, but in another building...

What a lovely surprise! The room was excellent value for money. Although it was on the smaller side, it was very clean, thoughtfully designed, and extremely comfortable, with everything we needed for our stay. The bathroom was spotless, and the shower was great. The location was also excellent—an easy walk to the train station, with plenty of local restaurants and pubs nearby, and just a short walk into the center of town. We were really pleased with our stay and would happily stay here again.

I liked that it was a small traditional inn. Like the kind you see in movies with a short series of rooms over a pub and dining room. There’s no front desk, but the staff are versed in getting you set up. It was super convenient. Also the York Minster was about 1-2 minutes away, literally the end of the street. A section of the city was was about 30 seconds away, stairs going up an archway that sits next to the inn. It was just so convenient!

Excellent "bathroom" with spacious, easy to adjust shower and large heated towel rail, plus great complimentary toiletries, and lots of shelf space for our personal toiletries.
