Learn more about Kernville
Rushing white water beckons adventure seekers to the Kern River, where rafting trips navigate thrilling rapids through spectacular canyon scenery. The Old West-style downtown feels frozen in time, with wooden storefronts housing local craft shops and cafes serving hearty portions to hungry paddlers. Grab a pint at the local brewery after exploring the Kern River Valley Historical Society's collection of mining artifacts and pioneer memorabilia. Lake Isabella offers a calmer water experience just minutes away, perfect for fishing or leisurely boat days. Hikers find solace on the Cannell Trail with its sweeping mountain vistas, while Brush Creek provides peaceful spots for streamside picnics. Don't miss the surprisingly good coffee shops where river guides swap tales of the day's adventures.

Quiet Mind Lodge Retreat & Spa Sequoias
"After deliberating for a little while between giving this place a 6/10 and a 10/10, I settled on 10. I have never had so many opinions about a place before or written such a long review! But let me begin: The place seems like it attracts two kinds of people. People who are just passing through and need a place to stay for a night (which is who I’d strongly recommend the place to and why I gave it a 10/10, and those looking for what it claims to be - a wellness center/spa. As a simple no-frills lodge, it’s wonderful. Rooms are clean enough, cozy, right on the way to the Sequoias. The staff, as I will touch on, are an absolute pleasure and go above and beyond to help. We’ve paid more for far less cozy places. As a place that claims to have various amenities, it’s an abject failure and frankly, deceitful. This is absolutely no fault of any of the staff. They are clearly overworked, overwhelmed, and I would assume underpaid. For instance, one employee doing housekeeping, is also on yard work, while also doing evening check-ins, while also making dinner for everyone staying there. How on earth is that supposed to work?! Of course things will slip through the cracks when they’re all pushed that far. As someone who is pursuing a doctorate in Buddhist Studies, this place was especially disappointing due to its potential as a genuine place for people to relax and get a tiny dose of spirituality. Unfortunately, the “library” is a shelf of 15 random pseudo-spiritual books. Instead o"

"The staff was super friendly, the beds were very comfortable, the sheets smelled like bleach (which I love), the river view was awesome, fire pit provided and fan, bathrooms clean and well appointed, outside showers were pretty cool (summer). We felt safe"

Piazza's Pine Cone Inn
"We enjoyed our time there. The room was clean and staff was helpful and pleasant."
Corral Creek Lodge
"we liked the location as it had easy access to the river. The place was quiet. The room was clean and comfortable. The parking was easy and nice. We didn't interact with the staff much, but those that we did interact with were pleasant. Our only criticism was as regards the kitchen. The electric stove top had only one working burner. The refrigerator was not set properly and thus many of our food items froze. But, when set properly it worked fine. So check refrigerator settings when putting ones food in. The lighting in the kitchen area is poor as the light source is kind of behind the area of operations. Note though, we did not bring this to the management's attention during our visit. But, in our defense, we expected everything to be operational when we arrived. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would probably stay again."
