The wave is certainly not a 4 star property so this in itself was misleading. Most three star hotels have a coffee machine, we booked a few different style apartments, no coffee machines in both the three and two bedroom ocean facing rooms (yes you can go and purchase nice coffee nearby, which we did every day, but when you travel with kids it’s nice to make one decent coffee in your room) also amenities supplied were very basic - no nice teas, just one variety, instant coffee, basic tiny body wash/shampoo, I would expect a 4 star hotel to be affiliated with a decent brand to provide nice amenities!
Rooms smelt of mildew or bleach. Fridge didn’t work, this was rectified, but very annoying having to spend the time replacing items that went off. Old facilities, rooms are shabby, uncomfortable beds/mattresses. The outdoor lounge on the balcony had one tiny cushion, not suitable seating/dining on the balcony.
Very slow check in process on a busy day with a conference.
Pros - the staff were nice and accommodating, the pool area on level 4 is great, as are the bbq facilities surrounding the pool. I believe this area has been recently renovated, if the rest of the hotel had the same care as this area it could be a true 4 star hotel.
