Lantau, Hong Kong's largest island, has convenient transport links to all major locations including Kowloon, New Territories and Hong Kong Island. With its tranquil beaches, old fishing villages, rice fields, and mountains, the island’s lifestyle is far removed from that of most of Hong Kong.
If you’re a fan of hiking, the 70-km-long Lantau Trail starts from Mui Wo (Silver Mine Bay) and ends at the top of Lantau Peak, which stands 934 metres above sea level. Lantau is also home to one of Hong Kong’s largest theme parks: Hong Kong Disneyland. Located on the north-eastern end of the island, this world-renowned amusement park covers 310 acres of fun-filled rides and shows, shops, restaurants, and hotels.
