"Booking was for room only which was fine. Self check in worked well and I was allowed to arrive early which gave me time to explore the area. I walked from the ferry terminal which was only 15 minutes away. There is sufficient car parking at the hotel. Very quiet and pleasant room. Very comfy bed and everything very clean. Local pub good for food in evening. Interesting watching many massive lorries sounding their horns when going past the outside diners! "

This is an older hotel, not slick and modern, so quirky, and the facilities are more basic, and may not suit you if you prefer modernity (try the Midland, and then pay for it!). More space in the rooms than many other hotels close by. Friendly staff, nice bar, a little quiet, which is fine by me, as there's a busy bar downstairs in the basement. Decent breakfast at a reasonable price"

"Really beautiful place both the hotel and the location. Staff were all very nice, polite snd helpful which made the stay even more pleasant. The only downside was breakfast, the qaulity of the produce was excellant as i'm guessing was the standard of the breakfast if you were there at the start. I guess part of the problem was our own doing because we decided on a late breakfast towards the end of service, so we found the hot food gad now gone cold. This shouldn't happen so maybe look into...

Some of the furnishings are visibly old, but I don't mind that at all - personally, I find that much more environmentally-friendly. The family room was well laid out, comfortable and clean. There was no cooling in the room (Summer) and a medium thick duvet which is not conducive to a great nights sleep but overall, a good stay.the only negative comment.
