Top neighborhoods in Saint-Malo

Intra Muros
Step back in time within Intra Muros, Saint-Malo's walled medieval marvel where cobblestone streets wind between honey-colored granite buildings. Climb the ramparts for breathtaking English Channel views or explore the soaring spires of St. Vincent Cathedral. History buffs will love the maritime museums inside Château de Saint-Malo, while beach lovers can access sandy shores directly from the ancient walls. Traditional crêperies and seafood bistros line the narrow streets where Breton culture thrives through local cuisine and crafts. The neighborhood is blissfully car-free, making it perfect for exploring on foot. Boutique hotels in converted historic buildings offer character-filled stays with many featuring exposed beams and sea views.

Courtoisville-Sillon-Moka
Courtoisville-Sillon-Moka offers golden sands and salty breezes without the tourist crush. Take peaceful strolls along Sillon Beach's coastal paths where ocean views meet the distant silhouette of Saint-Malo's historic walls. The Grande Plage invites you to spread out your beach towel, while Casino Barriere provides entertainment when you've had enough sun. Local bistros serve up authentic Breton galettes at prices that won't make your wallet weep. Choose from cozy B&Bs or budget-friendly vacation rentals, all just a quick bus ride from Saint-Malo's walled city. This quiet residential retreat gives you breathing room while keeping the good stuff nearby.

Saint-Servan
Saint-Servan offers a delightful escape from the tourist crowds with its medieval charm and waterfront beauty. The imposing 14th-century Tour Solidor stands guard over a marina sparkling with sailboats. Cobblestone streets wind past half-timbered houses toward panoramic terraces overlooking Saint-Malo across the water. Sandy beaches like Plage de Solidor and des Corbières provide perfect spots to dip your toes. Traditional Breton crêperies and seafood bistros line harbor-view terraces where you can savor fresh oysters and local cidre. Charming bed-and-breakfasts in converted stone houses make ideal bases for exploring the coastal walking paths. The neighborhood's walkable streets and regular bus service make getting around this quieter corner of Saint-Malo a breeze.

"Nice breakfast and ideal position"
"Amazing location with great parking, but the staff really made our stay. Everyone was unbelievably helpful and welcoming. We had an amazing time and would absolutely stay here again. A must-stay if you’re visiting Saint-Malo!. Only note is they isn’t a lot of parking and you need to calm and reserve a spot asap"
Hôtel Oré
"A little gem of a hotel. Everything was great and the food was fabulous."
Hôtel de l'Univers
"You can’t beat this location. It sits right inside the main entrance of Saint-Malo’s Old Town, just a short walk from the public parking lot right outside the ramparts. You are right in the heart of the action, surrounded by lively bars, pubs, and restaurants. Inside, the hotel is clean, very well maintained, and offers a great night’s sleep thanks to comfortable beds. The main drawback for us was the summer heat. Because the room didn't have air conditioning, we had to sleep with the windows open. The nightlife right outside kept things loud until nearly 3:00 AM, and early morning deliveries and prep work started dragging trolleys across the cobblestones by 5:00 AM. Aside from the summer heat and late-night noise, it’s a solid hotel—just be sure to request a quieter room or pack earplugs if you visit in July or August!"
