Pocitos Beach beckons with golden sand and gentle waves, perfect for sun-soaked afternoons. Stroll the iconic Rambla promenade where locals jog, cycle, and gather for spectacular Río de la Plata sunsets. Trendy cafés and upscale parrillas (steakhouses) line the tree-shaded streets, serving everything from premium Uruguayan beef to international cuisine. Cordón's tree-lined streets blend Montevideo's cultural heartbeat with everyday local life. Hunt for treasures at the bustling Tristan Narvaja Flea Market or feed your cultural appetite at the National Library and intimate theaters like El Galpón. University students create a lively atmosphere around Avenida 18 de Julio, where bookshops spill onto sidewalks and century-old cafés buzz with animated discussions. Budget-friendly parrillas and traditional cafés serve delicious asado and medialunas throughout the neighborhood. Most attractions are within walking distance, with frequent bus service connecting you to downtown and Ciudad Vieja. Small guesthouses and boutique hotels in converted historic buildings offer authentic accommodation options.

Parque Rodó
Parque Rodó pairs urban excitement with green serenity right on Montevideo's coastline. The sprawling namesake park offers paddle boating on the lake, nostalgic amusement rides, and shady spots perfect for people-watching. Art lovers can explore the National Museum of Visual Arts, while beach fans will appreciate Ramirez Beach's sandy shores and the scenic Rambla promenade. The neighborhood serves up affordable eats thanks to the nearby university crowd, with casual cafes and traditional parrillas dotting the streets. Most attractions sit within easy walking distance, and frequent buses connect to downtown. Budget-friendly hostels and mid-range guesthouses make this leafy district a smart home base for exploring the city.

Costanero Hotel Montevideo - MGallery Collection
"excellent hotel in a great location. those bidet in the bathrooms are amazing. in house restaurant is great. breakfast is above average with no diversity/same everyday."
Aloft by Marriott Montevideo
"The hotel is well situated within Punta Carretas, a nice neighborhood with many restaurants and shops. I definitely recommend the location for travelers new to Montevideo. There are two great restaurants around the corner: La Pedriez and Garcia. The hotel is modern and clean. The lobby has popcorn and pool table my kids enjoyed during a break. Staff was helpful with both check in and out. They suggested a taxi over an uber to the ferry terminal, better prices."

"Good hotel in Punta Carretas, close to everything. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. It is a bit older and worn, (the sink in room 508 was cracked and patched). Also there were almost no available sockets for charging our devices. The spa was great, offering at and dry sauna, whirlpool and massages. The breakfast buffet is OK, some bread options, scrambled eggs, potatoes with onions, cereals, fruit, artificial orange juice, apple juice, coffee was not great though. All in all, it is good enough to explore Montevideo easily."
