The first thing I have to mention is the excellent staff. Every one of them was polite, attentive and helpful and communicated well in spite of the language barrier. I didn’t speak a word of French but they did their best to communicate in English and they did a great job. Garden and City has lots of common spaces to hang around after a hard day of hiking. We really enjoyed our stay here. A beautiful setting, very clean and the hotel grounds are kept up nicely. Nice places inside and outside to sit and read or have a beverage. The pool was open and clean but very cold, which was welcome to soak our feet after hiking. Parking in front is under cover for shade. Breakfast was very good and we enjoyed 2 dinners. Restaurant staff was friendly and attentive.

L'Ardiden was an unexpected delight. It's perched above a river with great mountain views from the rooms and a small balcony. The room was plain, but clean and modern and the bathroom was quite clean and spacious. The location is near the thermal baths, a bit removed from Luz St. Sauveur; however, I preferred being away from the traffic in Luz. It's about a 10 minute walk into Luz. This is a great place to experience Luz, Gavarnie and other regional attractions.
