Ancient stone steps lead to a lost Incan city where temples and terraces defy gravity against mountain backdrops. Llamas graze nonchalantly as you explore the Temple of the Condor and Temple of the Sun, both masterpieces of precision stonework. The Intipunku (Sun Gate) rewards early risers with the classic postcard view that's worth every step of the climb. After exploring the Historic Sanctuary, soak tired muscles in Aguas Calientes Hot Springs in the nearby village. The Butterfly Farm offers a colorful counterpoint to stone ruins. Arrive early to experience the mystical morning fog lifting to reveal the citadel – a moment that explains why travelers endure altitude sickness and predawn hikes for this singular view.
After reading reviews of Aguas Calientes in general, I was leery of the accommodations available. This was so inaccurate! The town is much better than what I read, and this hotel was the best one yet! (Better than Cuzco, Lima, and Ollantaytambo) The bed was bigger than my king at home. That alone made me smile when I walked in. I highly recommend this hotel. We stayed for three nights and loved it. It actually felt like a vacation.
This hotel was absolutely amazing. We walked in dirty and dusty from 4 days on the Inka trail and they immediately warmly welcomed us with refreshments and comfortable seating as they checked us in from their lobby couches instead of standing at the counter! The food was AMAZING! We had a beautiful balcony outside our room overlooking a park and the river. The service was fantastic. A hotel employee went to the train station to purchase our tickets, they held our luggage the next day while...
This hotel is literally steps away from the entrance of Machu Picchu, which means you can easily catch both sunrise and sunset at the site, as well as leave and re-enter. The staff is truly exceptional. Rodolfo and Erving were incredibly helpful, considerate and accommodating. Dinner menu and service very impressive, but the lunch buffet is outstanding in terms of quality, presentation, and selection. Would highly recommend! More than fair value for the cost considering inclusion of meals and...
Great property for what we needed which was a quick nights stay before a long hike the next morning. GREAT shower pressure, clean enough, very nice staff. Breakfast starts at 5am which was perfect because our route started at 7am. Super close to the train and bus to Machu Picchu. The night we got in there were some political concerts so it was very loud but that’s not the properties fault. Bit of a communication error prior to the reservation they messaged me on hotels.com and I responded and...
They have basic stuff. Very close to the center, especially if you try to get Machu Picchu in person ticket the day before, the ticket office is the right around the corner.
I came to Aguas Calientes alone as a solo female traveler heading up to Machu Picchu, and this place was absolutely perfect in every way. Jaw dropping river views with the rushing water so loud, I was in heaven. I loved my morning coffee on the patio looking at the river. The service was impeccable and the breakfasts hearty - all I could have hoped for.
The hotel was a nice welcoming space. It is convenient to the train station for those who are going to Machu Picchu. The train does run near the hotel, so you will hear it three or more times over night so if you’re a light sleeper you may want to note this. This was the second place we stayed in Aguas Caliente and the town a very active town so you can expect some noise no matter where you stay.
Located in Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo) this is a great place to stay if you are planning on going to visit Machu Picchu, it is a 1 hour 30 minute hike to the park entrance, the bus to park is less then 5 minutes away, the hotel itself is clean cold water in sink hot water shower, breakfast is served every day from 6am till 9am before that 4am to 6am you can request bag lunch, there are several restaurants nearby, it is located about 1/4 mile up hill from town square the village it self...
This place was magical! Within walking distance to the train station. It's a super small town and there are no cars. The hotel can arrange for someone to meet you at the train station and assist with carrying luggage.
There are a lot of shops and great restaurants so get lost and have fun! Note that some of the outdoor restaurants charge a 'service fee'. One of the restaurants we stumbled upon had horrible service and they slipped us that service fee so just ask.
TIPS...the buses to Machu...
I highly recommend this hotel. I would stay here again. We were here for Machu Picchu. Excellent stay. Had a room on the 4th floor over the river. The river is kind of loud, but great windows so it seemed more like a "white noise" in the background which was quite nice actually. Despite its proximity to the station, we could not hear any train at all from our side. There is a train that passes literally 5 feet in front of the hotel so get the river side if possible. All the staff were...
This place was great! Recommend to all. The staff go above and beyond to help you and make you feel welcome. Clean, solid breakfast, very kind staff who asked us every time they saw us if we needed anything (and offered toiletries, towels, room cleaning, directions, advice). The polla a la brassa across the street was very good and only 30 soles per meal--don't get ripped off by the tourist restaurants on the main street.
The staff were very friendly. This hotel is across the river. Our room had a great view of the river. The room was clean. The breakfast was good. Great selection of fruit, cereal, and bread.
