What a gem! If you are looking for a charming and affordable place to stay in the London area, look no further. Located in adorable Godalming and a quick 45-min train ride into the heart of London, the Rose and Crown was perfect for our family of 4. We stayed in the Juliet room, which has two separate sleeping areas: a very comfortable queen bedroom with en-suite, and a secluded little Hobbit room for kids (the beds are small, so it’s not ideal for taller teenagers). The staff were so friendly...
The staff were outstanding. The owners, Pat and Lyn, were the friendliest pub landlord and landlady in Britain. Ruby was a fantastic host and Andy was incredibly charming. The bar itself was beautifully constructed and thye home made Steak and Ale pie was the best meal I've ever had. The home made chili was next level perfection.
Great hotel with really nothing by way of competition anywhere in the area. Only thing to keep in mind is that for some reason the top floor rooms get really hot, even with the radiator turned off (we stayed in February last year, early March this year). So you need to have the windows open, and the road can be really busy and quite noisy. So we'd recommend asking for a room on the back of the hotel. Other than that, the staff are amazing, the food is great, the bathrooms are clean and modern...
we had a lovely stay. the lady at the B&B gave us step by step directions to the house when we got lost. Breakfast was wonderful. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.
