Smiths at Gretna Green

Stayed in the cottage - went with our two kids to do our wedding vow renewal (married there in 2004) so it was a very special trip for us. Only stayed one night but the cottage was incredible - so beautiful, clean and comfy. We could easily have stayed there for a week. Restaurant was ok, nothing special but it wasn't bad. Breakfast food included was mid but that's ok with us too. Will definitely stay there again.

The Mill was fantastic. The room was well decorated and presented a homely atmosphere. The grounds were like a resort setting: large, beautiful landscape, some history, historic buildings ideally spaced. The bar and restaurant were great. Breakfast were very Scottish and enjoyable. My only complained was the availability of WIFI. I had booked for one night, but had to extend our stay. Highly recommend and will stay again if the opportunity arise.

There is no place that I know of with a more scenic and tranquil view and setting on the Liddle Water. Set in Elliot territory on the edge of Armstrong lands in the ancient border lands of Liddesdale, this is an excellent location to start any journey through the area in discovering the area’s rich border reiver history. Jane and Michael and the most gracious hosts you will find. Morning coffee in the gazebo over the Liddle overlooking the pastures with the sound of the Black Byrn flowing below...
