"The room was nice but this is an older building and there was definitely mould in the shower. However there were 2 sinks and that was great. Many parts of the hotel are showing their age. We did see the cleaning staff trying to keep the common areas clean. The bar staff were very friendly and did a great job preparing our drinks. The buffet was okay but there were very little options for people with dietary restrictions. The beach area is beautiful and clean. My one major complaint was the smoking. When I researched this hotel, I did not find any details indicating that it was a smoking hotel. There is a designated smoking area but very few people used it. No one at the hotel enforced this rule. It was disgusting to find cigar and cigarette butts in the sand and by the pool. We also found the customer service staff either unwilling or very slow to respond to customer requests. The service staff were all very friendly and helpful even if their english wasn’t the best."
"This was our 3rd year at the resort. We were upgraded to an ocean view room and it was amazing! The rooms have been updated and are very spacious and clean. The food was great - from the buffet to the other restaurants on the property - there is something for everyone! There are nice pools if you want a break from the ocean!
Front desk and concierge staff are very friendly and helpful."
"This is my second year at Barcelo and I was very disappointed. The staff was not very nice besides a handful of them. The bed was awful there was still sand on our floor in our room. The TV kept losing signal. The WiFi connection was awful. We would lose it every two minutes. The restaurants were okay. The Italian restaurant L’Olio is amazing! The Arubian Seafood was delicious! The buffet is the worst. Nothing good there ever. I was very disappointed with the stay. The only up side to this resort is the location and price but I still think I paid too much for not receiving anything good."

"This property has the beach, the location and the great staff. It also has the biggest price tags. Not saying it isn’t worth it, but be ready. It also has the worst casino on the island. Luckily the Hyatt down the street has probably the nicest casino so it worked out."
