Grand Hotel Amrâth Amsterdam
8/10 Good
"Older hotels but very nice location. Rated cleanliness, location, well-maintained, etc., accordingly. Check-in process had some miscommunication, but overall, a great hotel."
"Not great!! I booked a room at the Eden Hotel because I thought it was old and charming, and when I arrived, my room was in the NYX Hotel, which was not at all charming. Very confusing and disorienting to go up and down hallways and stairs through 2 different hotels, and try to figure out which entrance your cab will be at. We asked for clean towels on two occasions and even offered to carry them up ourselves from reception, but were told they would deliver them to our room for us. No towels ever showed up, and we were forced to use wet damp towels for 2 days (we had water on the floor in the bathroom from something leaking every day) so always damp towels! Hotel location was OK, but that’s about all I can say was a positive for the hotel. The hotel was under construction, which I did not know when I booked it, so maybe that is why there was so much chaos about the accommodations. Would not stay there again."
"When I arrived I was assigned a room that had not yet been serviced but it was a mix up that the management quickly fixed. They sent me to a new cleaned room right away and they offered us breakfast for the inconvenience. I would stay here again because I feel their staff is very customer service oriented and deals with small mix ups quickly. We also took an evening boat tour and the hotel was very close to the pick up location so that was very nice. They even had an outlet that was compatible with US power plugs which was pretty nice. Recommend staying here, if you are American you will be very comfortable ."
"What a unique hotel. We loved our stay at the Hoxton Lloyd. A little outside of the main areas of central Amsterdam, but close to a train that takes you there in 15-20 mins. We loved the history of it, and all the funky details and decor inside. We had a beautiful view of a canal, and enjoyed the bar/restaurant downstairs. The bunkbeds were perfect for the kids, and we used the supermarket and coffee shop across the street a couple of times. They also have complimentary bikes available, and decent restaurant options within walking distance. Also the photo booth in the lobby was a hit. Highly recommend if you don't mind staying outside of the Amsterdam core."
