My Place Hotel - Kansas City East/Independence, MO
10/10 Excellent
"I've stayed at the property a few times over the years. This last visit was like all the others. The whole property was very clean and well maintained."
"If we ever make a trip that brings us this way, this is definitely our pick! Drury Inn in general will make our list of places to consider. The rooms and baths were clean, newly renovated it seemed. Smelled good. Quiet ... tho roadnoise from the highway was heard. The dinner and drinks is a really nice bonus, we stayed here on both coming and going on our trip, a Wednesday night and a Sunday night, unfortunately it was the same dinner so we tried the on site restaurant on our Sunday night stay. The breakfast was also the same offerings for the most part on both ends of our stay. Food was fine. If you were staying a long time it could become repetitive. "
"The hotel was nice. The breakfast was listed as a buffet. It had a warmer unit that had scrambled eggs, sliced sausage and French toast sticks in it. A waffle maker, cereal, hard boiled eggs and some breads. Not what I would call a buffet. Other than that the hotel was nice as was the pool. The Staff was friendly. The room was nice. A Waffle House was a short walk. The hotel and parking lot were safe. I would stay there again."
"I will never stay there again. My room had a Jacuzzi-style tub with high sides. When I stepped over the edge, my foot slipped out from under me because there were no anti-slip materials in the tub. Had I not been holding onto the faucet, I would have gone down hard.
The room didn't have a bath mat for the floor, so I was equally fearful when I stepped out of the tub, figuring that my tub foot might slip out from under me.
I had driven about 400 miles that day, with the last 100 through some of the worst rain and wind I've been in (and I've covered 13 hurricanes as a news photographer). The only parking was in the back of the building, which had a locked back door. Even my usual no-tell motels will let you use your room card for entry, but this one made me walk through driving rain to go in the front door.
On the plus side, the bed was comfortable, and the room temp stayed where I set it."

2/10 Terrible
"The room was switched at the hotel from a King-sized bed to 2 queens. They indicated that the King-sized room had plumbing issues. The did not disclose to Hotels.com that there was a $50 deposit / service fee due at check in. The room DID allow smoking so that was a positive in my opinion. TV remote did not control the volume or power on; but would change the channel.
Outside of the hotel's control were the other guests. Someone was bouncing some sort of ball up and down the balcony and smacking doors on the way by. I picked up screw in a tire after parking in the lot. Maybe from the other hotel's nearby construction. It was a very unpleasant night. trying to check out the following morning, the staff was asleep in the office and took 20 minutes to rouse after hitting the glass partition. The phone number listed was inoperable. I checked out 1 day early because I could not take another night there. I fully expected to eat the cost of the other night. Last was the breakfast offerings... laughable. Terrible coffee and the waffle maker did not work. "
