"We stayed in this hotel while visiting Arashiyama and we were beyond impressed with the hotel overall. From the walking distance to the Saga Arashiyama train station, superb quality of the rooms, cleanliness, attention and friendly staff, I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area. "Hotel and staff are lovely. Ideal if you have a car. Thankful for free shuttle bus to station if you haven’t. Not much to do / see immediately around the hotel. But great location for seeing the bamboo forest. "

"Modern hotel with old Japan touches. Loved the yakata robes and tatami mat floors. Most comfy Japanese hotel bed ever. The cafe that serves breakfast below was amazing and I loved the quiet location in Arashiyama. It was an easy 15 minute walk to the river."

"This was my Fiancé and I's first trip to Japan and we decided to start our trip off first in Kyoto. We stayed here for 3 nights and had the best time, it's about a 5-10 min walk to the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, we got up around 5:30am-6am and their were no crowds, we were able to catch the sunset as well, we took so many pictures, it was absolutely beautiful. This hotels location is also only a 15-30 min train ride to the Fushimi Inari Shrine as well, the hotel is right next to the subway. We...

"I loved staying at the Atagoya Guesthouse! Comfortable, traditional guesthouse in a quiet neighborhood. Great location. Near JR line and popular sites. Kenji was an exceptional host! Showed great concern for my wellbeing. Assisted above & beyond with bus schedule/directions and train ticket guidance. The kitchen has all the basics. Private eating area in the bedroom. No shared living space. This was a lovely refuge from the busy days of sightseeing."

"An excellent experience if you want to immerse yourself in traditional Japanese hospitality and enjoy a relaxing stay\. Ranzan is the perfect place for a peaceful getaway, especially if you choose the dinner and breakfast package, which makes the whole experience even more special\. We had a wonderful time\! The hotel is ideally located near the beautiful bamboo forest, in a quieter part of Kyoto where nature takes centre stage and the city feels far away, yet restaurants, local shops and...

"If you are planning a trip to Arashiyama, Kyoto, then this is hands-down the best place to stay. It is close to every tourist attraction—bamboo forest, Tenryu Temple, and Fukuda Museum—all the good stuff you need to see. The property offered us free pick-up service from Kyoto Station, bookable via email, so getting there was a breeze. Once we arrived, the concierge service was top notch, and every one of our needs was tended to. The evening drink service is the cherry on top. While they do...

"The hotel is perfectly situated in Kyoto. There are a lot of restaurants and stores within walking distance of the property. I love the communal dining space.
