Charming and well worth it.
Hosts were wonderful. Friendly, helpful, kind. Apartment was clean, calm and equipped. Local area stunning. Mountains and sea. Not expensive as tourism thankfully hasn’t yet overrun Montenegro. Would recommend staying in Herceg Novi with day trips to Kotor. Worth the effort.

Billigt og grei apartment
Litt vanskelig å finne fram, men beliggenheten var veldig fint, høyt over byen. Ca 10 min gange ned til byen, men det er rikelig med taxier til en billig penge. Romstandarden var helt enkel og grei, men sengene var ett stort minus. De var harde som stein. Ellers var hotellet fint nok med en uteplass med basseng og solsenger. Personalet var hjelpsom .

Bohemiskt, högt över havet
Närmaste flygplats är i Cilipi, i Kroatien. Det finns ingen busslinje som kör direkt från flygplatsen och in i Monte Negro. Man måste först in till Dubrovniks bussterminal. Avståndet är kort men stadens infart är en svår flaskhals. Resan tar minst en dryg timme. Efter biljettköp blir det samma väg tillbaka, förbi flygplatsen och två gränskontroller. Snabbt avklarat men kön åt motsatt håll var ca 4 timmar lång. Att fundera på för återresan... Från Herceg Novi main bus station tar det ca 15 minuter att gå till villan. Hyresvärdinnan är glad och trevlig. All kommunikation får gå via döttrar och barnbarn. Villan ligger högt upp på berget i byn, någon km från havet och strandpromenaden. Vägen fram och tillbaka, i själva verket upp och ner, är väldigt brant. Bara backar och trappor som sätter sig rejält i benen. Allting ligger längs med bergssidan. Som tur är så är orten väldigt avslappnad. Man behöver inte gå hem/upp och piffa till sig om man nu inte absolut vill det. Vistelsen går mest ut på att prova olika restauranger och solstolar nere vid havet och strandpromenaden, för att till sist avsluta med himlamarschen. Maten är bra om man gör sin hemläxa. Restauranger med bra omdömen ligger betydligt högre i pris än de mer okända. Det finns lika bra restauranger bland dessa men det är ju ett lotteri.

Todella vaikea löytää
Paikka oli todella vaikea löytää, johtuen osittain paikalisesta epäloogisesta tavasta numeroida asunnot. Myöskään emme saaneet mitään opasteita, ja paikan emäntä ei puhunut kuin muutaman sanan englantia. Soittaessani ilmoittaakseni saapumisaikamme, ei kielimuurista johtuen ollut juuri apua. Edes rakennuksessa itsessään ei ollut mainintaa vuokrahuoneistosta, eikä navigaattori tai naapuritkaan tiennyt missä kyseinen paikka sijaitsee. Lopulta paikka löytyi reilun tunnin pyörimisen jälkeen sattumalta, kun kävelimme paikan ohi ja satuin kysymään neuvoa. Onneksemme tämä henkilö sattui olemaan juurikin paikan emäntä. Maksua koitettiin ottaa käteisellä, eikä hän tuntunut ymmärtävän, että se oli jo maksettu kokonaisuudessaan Hotels.comin kautta. Lopulta ymmärrys kuitenkin löytyi ja sen suhteen ei tullut enempää ongelmia. Paikassa oli uima-allas, jonka käytöstä emäntä tuntui olevan tarkka - pikaisen pulahduksen jälkeen päätimme lopettaa lystin, sillä sääntöjä ja ohjeita tuntui tulevan suurinpiirtein kaikesta mitä teimme. Paikassa piti olla wifi, mutta huoneessa olevasta reitittimestä puuttui muuntaja. Toimiva wifi oli isäntäperheen omassa asunnossa, joten se toimi käytännössä vain ulkona ollessa, ja silloinkin vain välttävästi. Myös huoneiston oven ylempää saranaa ei ollut korjattu, joten oven kanssa sai olla tarkka ettei se irtoa kokonaan sijoiltaan. Muutoin huone oli ihan ok: ilmastoitu, jääkaappi, oma kylpyhuone ja hyvä sänky.
