Summit Hotel Tacloban is a decent stay, but go in with realistic expectations. Location is great—right next to Robinsons Place Tacloban and near eateries like Drake's. The 1st-floor coffee shop is lovely with great pastries.
However, amenities and management need work. I wish they had a gym. The pool is constantly packed with kids from open to close.
Service oversight and maintenance are the main issues:
Breakfast: Underwhelming. The egg station lacked staff managing the line for orderliness. It was aggravating when someone blatantly cut in front of me to take all the eggs. Staff said nothing—making me wonder if non-confrontation is just the culture here. If staff had spoken up, I would’ve praised them directly to the GM.
Room: The toilet kept leaking, so I had to shut off the water supply manually.
Parking: Confusing. Staff said it's for guests, but without signs, non-guests park freely.
I’d still suggest it for convenience, but service oversight needs major improvement.
