It's 300 steps up (via the most direct, but tedious! route), but once you understand how to make it to the villa along the alleys that spread throughout the hill, life is so much easier!
From the villa, the lovely seaside town spreads before you, quietly, in a rhythm and hum that is both inviting and infectious. The landing at the top of the steps is a special place.
The building itself is well maintained, looked after by a small dedicated army of staff and volunteers. The structure itself is over a hundred years old, and has been meticulously restored and brought up to date with modern but modest amenities. This isn't a luxury resort by today's standards, but it is a wonderful and comfortable place to stay, and a great place to exchange stories with visitors and locals. I stay here whenever I visit.
Highly recommended.
