First thing first... This is a HOMESTAY! Meaning you will be staying in their house. If that is what you want then you will be happy. The guy that runs the place is very nice. He does however want to be around you all the time. As for the rooms, you get what you pay for works here, they are very basic. 2 plug ins, 1 worked, 1 shocked me. Went to make tea, opened the sugar jar up and noticed it was actually an ant colony living in the sugar. Breakfast was delicious, home made rotti and eggs and dahl. They had some fruit on the table but we couldnt stomach it as it had way to many fruit flies on it. If you ate looking for a bed for a night at a homestay this would work for you.

Ich war da für 3 nächte mit meine mutter. Zum ünernachten reicht es. Es ist ein zimmer in eine grosse einheimische familie. Es war ein erlebnis. Es ist in jungle und daher nachts sehr laut. Aber für diese preis (22$ nacht) kann ich es gerne empfehlen

An amazing place to stay. The people are like family members here ! I felt wellcomed, I felt taken care of, I felt safe and understood . And I got so much advice and had so much laugh with a wonderful people at Sunny Hill Residence. I will always keep you in my heart. So does my mother, too. Thank you

Amazing

This was an amazing place to stay. It was more like a “Home Stay” then a hotel. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were authentic Sri Lankan meals and were excellent. The host went out of his way to make sure that we saw the Temple of the Tooth and the Cultural Dance Show.

No room.

When I arrived there was no room available. I had booked a three star room with shower, view and everything, but they wanted to put me up in a very small prison type room, without any facilities. After a long and tiresome journey I had to wait, wait, wait and wait again. The (friendly) owner offered to put me up elsewhere. I had to walk with my bagage for at least half an hour, up and down hills, from one place to another. Finally, I was given a room in another hotel that was quite satisfactory. The owner paid the hotel.

Homestay dans une famille sri-lankaise hyper sympa. Le proprio est très (trop ?) présent, mais il dispense de bons conseils. Il nous as accompagné lors de nos excursions, donc si cela gêne ne pas hésiter à lui signaler. Les petits déjeuners sont délicieux. L'emplacement sur la colline est agréable et au calme, on peut descendre à pied en ville en 10 minutes où choper un tuktuk qui descend avec le moteur éteint et négocier une course gratuite jusqu'en bas. Sinon le prix est d'environ 250 lkr. Je conseille cette Guesthouse vraiment agréable.

We had a great stay at The Sunny Hill Residence. The uncle and niece who run this Residence were kind, helpfull and we had a pleasatnt stay. The breakfast was great!

Friendly hosts who gave good tips and served excellent breakfast. Nice house and comfortable room, location up the hill with nice views and only 10 min walk from the centre (or LKR 250 with tuktuk). Would stay there again :)

Good value of money

Good value of money. Excellent traditional Sri Lankan breakfast! Nice family who tries to make your feel like home. Owner speaks very good english and if you need help you will get it. Your holiday home locates up the hill and have a nice view. It is close to best view point of Kandy. Away from the noise and crowd, but close enough to walk to town. I walked there from train station carrying 25kg backpack, but I recommend to call the host or take tuk-tuk because hill is quite high.

Guest house correcte pour les standards du pays. Assez propre. Hélas le haut des fenêtres n'avait pas de vitre et le toit n'était pas jointif avec Les murs....l'air passait Et La nuit fut fraîche sous un petit drap de dessus. Le propriétaire était gentil et aimable.Il ne nous lâchait pas même pendant le petit dejeuner....Il voulait Bien faire. Qqs restos à 1 km.

Guest house close to the Lake

Small guest house 20 minutes walk from the Lake up a steep hill. Once you find it, quite convenient for the city centre. Owners are friendly, but watched over us while we ate our breakfast, a bit off putting. Room has a wonderful view over Kandy. Room was cool and not noisy. It was good value and fine for a short stay

In dieser kleinen Pension fühlt man sich wie in einer Familie aufgenommen. Sehr herzliche Menschen, die sich um alle Wünsche umgehend gekümmert haben. Leckeres Frühstück und bei Bedarf auch sehr leckeres Dinner. Touren wurden organisiert und verliefen reibungslos. Wir danken vielmals.

Beautiful view and nice staffs

It's my first time to stay in guest house in general. I am glad I stayed there because the staffs were very friendly, kind and helpful. They treated my like one of their family members. They asked me what I would like to eat for breakfast and dinner since they do not have a formal menu. Overall, you cannot get this kind of warm hospitality by staying the regular hotel. Nihal, one of the staffs and retired English speaking guide, gave me a lot of useful information about Sri Lanka. I will definitely contact him for Sri Lanka tour and stay there next time:)

magic time in this wonderful place!!

We had an excellent time in this magic place in the beautiful city of Kandy. The family in charge of this hotel was extremely nice and warm they help us a lot and the offer us a wonderful trip that we are completely satisfy. We highly recommend you to send them an e-mail to help you to seat your trip in sri-lanka they can pick you to the airport and we highly recommend you to go from the airport to Kandy and don't waste time in the crazy colombo that we didn't like at all. The place was beautiful we are completely happy and we definitely come back !!!

Great place, needs touch up

Hotel condition and room comfort: -1 for having a door in the shower, that lead outside, and had a broken lock. Room comfort also -1 because there was no A/C in the room. But besides that, the managers are really nice, and the hotel was cozy, and it had a killer view!

Fina stora fräscha rum. Bäst i alla lägen

Jag och min pojkvän reser som backpackers runt ön Sri Lanka. Vi hamnar på sunny hill resendece och blir mottagna med stora kärleksfulla famnar av hela familjen som äger detta. Vi får en god drink efter en lång resa med tåg. Sen går vi in till vårt rum och det är stort och väldigt rent. Så härligt. Servicen är helt otrolig, dom hjälper en med allt men på ett oklistrat sätt. Dom lyssnar verkligen på vad man vill göra och hjälper en med det. Inget sälj tjat. Detta hotel ligger uppe på berget, man kör förbi stans vackraste utsikt. Gå avstånd på ca.10 min till teeth tempel och den vackra sjön som man kan gå runt. Väldigt bra läge att gå fritt. Vi rekommenderar detta stark. Och kommer vi tillbaka till kandy kommer det vara ett självklart val att bo på sunny hill igen.. De behandlar en med respekt och kärlek. Känns som vi var endel av familjen. En tår att lämna dom.
