A rather sad, tired looking pub. I think it was in the process of changing licensee and the poor chap behind the bar was run off his feet, serving drinks, doing the food orders, taking the food from the kitchen and clearing the tables.
If more overnight guests had arrived, I expect he would have to have checked them in as well.
It’s an old building and I need of a complete refurbishment, and also has very thin walls between the rooms.
Our stay was only booked because I didn’t fancy the hour and a half’s drive home after walking round the antiques fair all day, but now regret booking it as we decided that we would get a better nights sleep at home because of the noise, so we packed up and drove home.
As, I say, not the staffs fault, but even though it is reasonable priced, I couldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
