Really enjoyed our stay here. Delightful quaint hotel with lovely ancient rooms full of character. Owners were very helpful and let us pick up the room keys early since we were attending a local festival. However, we had to ring them to confirm this since no comms whatsoever through the hotel.Com messaging service despite multiple attempts.. Also Hotel.Com stated that a full English breakfast was included in the rate but only continental breakfast was offered by the hotel. This is unacceptable and needs sorting out soonest by Hotel.Com so guests are not misled. However, overall we enjoyed our night at the thatched cottage inn and would stay again.

So disappointed, hotel looked and was good, staff lived in a different world! No evening meal offered, although we were having breakfast there was none available and no staff until my partner saw a cleaner who didn’t know we were even staying and then no offer to make breakfast. A rather sad, tired looking pub. I think it was in the process of changing licensee and the poor chap behind the bar was run off his feet, serving drinks, doing the food orders, taking the food from the kitchen and clearing the tables. If more overnight guests had arrived, I expect he would have to have checked them in as well. It’s an old building and I need of a complete refurbishment, and also has very thin walls between the rooms. Our stay was only booked because I didn’t fancy the hour and a half’s drive home after walking round the antiques fair all day, but now regret booking it as we decided that we would get a better nights sleep at home because of the noise, so we packed up and drove home. As, I say, not the staffs fault, but even though it is reasonable priced, I couldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

Awful. We stayed here a few years ago and it was great. We stayed Friday night and it was awful. It was £100 for the night. The bathroom was disgusting. There was a boiler that woke us up every twenty minutes in the night with loud rattling and pipe noises and the ‘continental’ breakfast was embarrassing. Rice crispies, hovis bread and 49p jam with the price still on it. We complained and were told no one was available and they would contact us in a few hours. It’s now two days later and we have messaged and emailed.

The room was great, very clean, large and well appointed. We were greeted warmly on arrival where it was explained that a full breakfast was extra despite what was quoted online (and what we had chosen - and paid for). The manager did say that this error was not his fault and they were trying to get it corrected however it seems that the customer is being made to take responsibility for this. A continental breakfast is included however this consists only of cereal, toast and a bowl of fruit so does not actually mean breakfast, there was no yogurt, pastries or anything else so really a hot breakfast is required, at an additional cost. We did have a great sleep and the building is charming and staff friendly but unfortunately due to feeling overcharged I cannot give a better review. Errors with advertising should not be passed on to customers.

Lovely clean rooms and very comfortable beds. The shower riser rail needed replacing in one room as we had to hold the showerhead in order to use it. But water was hot and plentiful. Lots of parking available and electric car charge points too. Despite being near the main road the room was very quiet and no traffic noise heard. Staff were helpful although mixup on first morning with who was working so breakfast slightly delayed. 2nd day was much better with decent breakfast (but please don't put black pepper on everything!) Overall a lovely stay and conveniently located for us. We hope to return in the future.

Front of house guy friendly & helpful. However there was no heating in our room on a cold weekend. Breakfast was supposed to be "continental" but all we got (left out in a back room) was cereal and toast!! Nothing had an opening date on it as per food hygiene regs.
