First, Hotels.com states that the check-in is open daily from 9 - 5, but when we arrived on Sunday, it was closed. By chance, a lady told us the keys were in the guard gate, but it was not intuitive for us to know to look in an empty guard gate. The Alpine Crest Resort is not far, per se, from the main road, but because at night there are no lights to comfortably see your way back, it is not "walkable" to the main road; moreover, there are a lot of hotels right on the main street which, had we known, we would have stayed at instead. Next, we had to drive up a very steep and winding hill to get to the room, which is not how other hotels in the area are situated, as they are on flat ground; in my opinion, this steep hill is very dangerous, especially if the road ices. Then, once inside, THE HOT WATER RAN OUT. As a family of 5, I was able to take a shower the first night. Since the office was closed and we were unaware of a help number that was on the back of the envelope the keys had come in, we did not know to call. We complained in the morning and a mechanic confirmed the water heater worked, but the second night was similar, except we called and were given a key to another room for us to shower there. Then, overall, it was dirty and smelly. The carpet and walls are soiled. The ceiling appears to also have mold. The slides do not work. Do yourself a favor and stay at a hotel on the main road. There is nothing about this place that makes it a "resort."
