The rooms are very very tired. They need a revamp. The bathroom, there was marks in the bottom of the bath, they had a mat rolled up that I didn’t want to touch. The soap dispenser on the sink was all rusting and leaking rust into the sink. We didn’t bother having a shower because of these issues. The breakfast was chaos. Not enough staff, or maybe just organised badly. Ordered tea on way in ( as was asked) the tea came after we ate, because the had run out of cups. They kept running out of orange juice (which was tasteless and warm) and glasses, cutlery, Ran out of bread so when I asked was told only had brown ( which is fine for me) but when the waitress put the bread in the basket noticed it was of cheap quality from the packaging. We found all breakfast on offer of not a good quality. We ate in the restaurant the night before and again didn’t find it the best for the price. Overall I found the hotel and accommodation is in need of a revamp and good clean ( specially the accommodation) and staff probably need extra support and training. I wouldn’t return.

We felt the breakfast was limited no continental available. Limited cereal & the cooked breakfast consisted of low quality sausages & bacon & the fried eggs were swimming in grease. The bar area is good & the seat area around the fire inviting. The staff were helpful & the accommodation well located. I was disappointed we didn’t have a bath in our room. However, we did enjoy our four day break.

Visited here a few times …super location, lovely clean property with friendly staff… ALWAYS good VALUE for money! Seems to attract friendly tourists who are always up for a gab, sharing stories and recommendations. Breakfast is plentiful, good quality and delicious! (Bit disappointed with evening meal … so much ‘unavailable’ on the menu … the ‘traditional chicken roast’ was, in my opinion, mushy and tasteless …. I feel the Stone Trough always sets the standard so high!) We have visited all different times of the year and look forward to visiting AGAIN…. THANK YOU

This is excellent value for money and a comfortable stay nestled in the country area of kelbrook. It is just off the main road but there didn't seem to be any traffic noise. Ideal for dog owners, allowed in most areas. Restaurant facilities are good too. Will stay again

Our room was a little small, but it had everything we needed and was clean. We have stayed here several times and recommend Stone Trough to anyone travelling in the area. The food is really good and many people just call in to eat. At a weekend they have to give you an allotted time for breakfast, in order to get everyone in! Breakfast and evening meal were excellent and staff are very obliging and friendly

This is a great hotel for a stopover. The room was clean and spacious. Food was reasonably priced and delicious. Drinks were also reasonably priced. Breakfast was good. Staff were welcoming and friendly. However, The towels were hand towel sized rather than bath towels. The radiator didn’t work.

I would not recommend this hotel I booked an accessible room on one level I even checked with the hotel after I had booked our stay they assured me that we would be very comfortable. The entrance to our room had a very unsafe makeshift step we were in the annex building the furthest away from the main hotel. The staff are unhelpful we asked for the heating on the room was very cold but we were informed that that certainly would not be happening we could have a fan heater. It was so noisy that we couldn’t hear the tv. The carpet has cigarette burns the room smells of the previous occupants the paintwork on the furniture is chipped bubbled and dirty. The bed was uncomfortable it sank in the middle The bathroom had a shower over the bath of which was no good for me I a disabled . I don’t think that I would have used it the bath is filthy dirt around the taps on the bath and washbasin are disgusting the floor filthy the dust on the back of the bathroom door and in the corners of the room beggars belief. There was a fly on the floor and it was there when we left. on both Saturday and Sunday we had to book breakfast time ours was 8.30 and had half an hour to self serve eat but Sunday we we’re a little longer we we’re finishing off when the waitress came said you will have to leave . My reply was that we hadn’t finished. The manager was called we again were ask to leave. I replied the same. Why was this information not available when I booked. We feel very let down.

Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing stay. I checked into the hotel on Monday on my own, but unfortunately left after around an hour because the room was not up to an acceptable standard. The room felt very dated and grubby, and when I raised my concerns, I was moved to another room. Unfortunately, the second room wasn’t much better. The bath had visible streaks and grime, there were strange stains on the bedding, and overall the room felt unclean and tired. Being there on my own, I didn’t feel comfortable staying, so I decided to leave. The hotel did take the full payment of £81, despite me only being there for around an hour, and I am still waiting for my refund. I appreciate that older décor can be overlooked when a room is clean and well maintained, but unfortunately that wasn’t the case here. The cleanliness was the main issue and really affected my experience. I hope the refund is processed promptly and that the hotel takes the feedback seriously and addresses the cleanliness and maintenance issues.

Booked a night at The Stone Trough for our Wedding Anniversary. It was a little overwhelming. I wanted to give it 3.5 but there wasn't an option and 3 is too low. The main shared areas of the hotel are pleasant and our evening meal was delicious with fantastic staff. However our room was tired, with wall paper coming away from the ceiling. There were some cobwebs, a small recent stain on the bed throw and dusty skirting boards. Just little things that a should be noticed and kept on top of by cleaning staff. The bathroom was clean but the shower kept oscillating between scalding hot and freezing cold, a maintenance issue. Also,my mistake but the photos make the hotel look as if it's in a small village on a quiet road, but in fact, it's on a main road and not in a quaint village. I think the motorhome stopover is a brilliant feature and worth every penny. There are nice gardens and places to sit out the back. It was fine for one night but glad we didn't pay for two.

Usual hotel full so slummed it here. Staff, food and drink absolutely no problem whatsoever. I was in room 32 which we can both agree like most independent hotel rooms in the UK need updating and tidying up. Hotels with restaurants make money but the money is put back into the bar and restaurant areas where most people see if they’re just coming out for a meal. I was itching in that bed like I was being walked on by mites or fleas. But the main problem was the room next door, room 30. I was awoken by people in there what seemed to be some strange s3xu4l acts with weird noises of pain and pleasure. I endured this from 23:30-00:30 before working out it was room 30. By way of the old trick of a cup on the wall. I gave them a bang on the wall which did quieten the noise down but at 01:00 I’d reached the end, unlike them. And decided to leave. I left at 01:30 Drove south until I was feeling tired so pulled in M42 services and had a peaceful sleep in my car. Unfortunately no shower or breakfast to hand but I just carried on with my day working until 16:00.

Rooms were very nice and comfortable, a few places could do with a touch up and the shower curtain could do with a wash to have a fresher smell, other than that the room was perfect. Hotel location was brilliant and the Restaurant was very pleasant with good food and on Fri/Saturday a piano player and singer makes for a lovely atmosphere whilst dining. Breakfast was pretty good too, I would just add a yoghurt option and swap out the tin plum tomatoes for fresh halved tomatoes. Reception staff when we arrived were very pleasant, and Simone who waited on us in the Restaurant was pleasant with a great sense of humour. Overall I would recommend Stone Trough Hotel and give it 8.5/10

There was no hot water. The WiFi coverage was poor. Breakfast was ok, I suppose, but nothing special. Had dinner in the restaurant - the food was served dried out and congealed but yet the temperature was warm at best, quite a feat. The room was ok, but nothing special. Tired, a bit tatty in places, and in need of renovation. The mattresses were flat and unsupportive. In defence, they had Hawkstone lager in, which was quite pleasant to drink.

Had great time nice comfy beds super friendly staff and hotel is super dog friendly,had biscuits for our dogs and are allowed everywhere in hotel so very helpful when at breakfast we can have dogs with us. Breakfast was good it help your self buffet with cooked and continental on offer. If your looking for a dog friendly hotel this is definitely 👌 plus if you have a motor home they have bays for you to park in.

Good breakfast and food menu selection. We stayed in a deluxe double. The room was spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable. Loved sitting on the veranda for our evening meal looking out onto the countryside watching the evening sunset
