Pros : Excellent building, artsy Location - close to shops, bars Clean beds, spacious rooms Social events- very inclusive Cons: Men's bathroom could use more frequent cleaning, a little maintaining up Kitchen area could also use more tidy up Overall 4/5 Staff and very friendly, met some great people and overall vibe is very relaxed. This place is very much a youth hostel rather than hotel. That’s on me, didn’t do my research. Even so, shared bathroom was filthy and there was nowhere to put toiletries. We didn’t risk it with the shower. Poo-like matter on shared toilet floor and carpet in compact room was wet; room had a funny smell. Very noisy both inside and street, so light sleepers avoid. And no service stowage for luggage. Staff were friendly and upfront about lack of supervision if you choose to leave luggage on the shelves provided. I’m grateful for that.

You dont get much in your room for things like "amenities" all you have is a kettle and a fridge. Beach is close by and we could have our dogs with us for a reasonable "pet fee" and no bond made it super convenient and affordable to stay!

Within walking distance to St Kilda Beach and just a 20-minute tram ride from the city center, the location is absolutely perfect. It’s surrounded by plenty of cafes, restaurants, and supermarkets, yet the area itself remains quiet and peaceful. The hotel facilities are excellent; the lounge is spacious and relaxing, and the shared kitchen is very well-equipped. My private room was also roomy and comfortable. I was delighted to find that they provided a kettle along with some delicious Melbourne blend tea in the room. The bathroom was spotless, and the overall amenities left nothing to be desired. Most importantly, the staff were incredibly kind. Even though I’m not very confident in my English, they spoke to me patiently and always greeted me with a smile, which made me feel so welcome. I would definitely love to stay here again when I return to Melbourne!

Clean, pleasant, late night check in assistance, bathroom supplied with shampoo and conditioner, all great. The pre-paid brekky was just a voucher to the cafe next door so i didn’t need to pay more for that.

Cosy hostel by the beach

The Roamer is perfect for travelers looking for community in a foreign place. With plenty to do and a great location, it's hard to find a reason not to stay here. Can't wait to come back!

A nice hostel with a good location in St Kilda. It's a little walk to the beach, and there's plenty of pubs, restaurants and things to do nearby. Good, clean facilities and friendly staff. It can get a little noisy in the evening. This wouldn't normally be an issue for me as it wasn't particularly late, but I was very jet-lagged and going to bed really early so that did keep me awake a little. Overall, a nice place to stay and I would return again.
