I dejected ‘terrible’ in the service section but it was not in reference to the actual staff. It is in relation to the booking process and policy.
I booked this months ago online for our 7th anniversary trip. We are not wealthy by any means and we cannot afford to travel often.
The day of the trip, literally hours before, I had been informed by a friend to ask if the hotel only accepted major credit cards. Not understanding why, and only having cash or a visa/debit, I called the hotel to inquire and was in fact informed they do in fact ONLY accept major credit cards for the hotel room hold/incidentals of $100. Explaining I don’t have one, and even offering to pay $500 cash for the incidental fee hold…was told no exceptions could be made and not only would I have to cancel, I would also have to pay a cancellation fee, if I wasn’t able to find someone to lend me their credit card.
Long story short there are many people, for various reasons, that nowadays only have a visa/debit and not a credit card. This policy is discriminatory and quite frankly incredibly poor customer service that would cause many people to not be able to travel. I have travelled many times in the past and have never experienced this. I have also called other hotel chains to inquiry about this ‘policy’ to be told they do not operate this way. I will never again book with the Best Western chain.
