2/10 Mediocre

We were not impressed. The bath had large bits of enamel missing. The floorboards were scratched and the paint scuffed. Maybe this was to give a beach vibe but it just felt grubby. Was generally a bit grubby. The toilet makes a horrendous noise when you flush it. Weird shell next to the bath that looked a bit offensive! No shower curtain so very difficult to wash as didn’t want to sit in a bath with such big bits of enamel missing. The listing needs updating as there is no breakfast available. The Charles Dickens opposite did a decent one. Really glad we were only there for one night.

6/10 Bueno

Excellent location. En-suite room. Friendly staff. Quirky old Victorian style bathroom with shower in roll top bath (would not be suitable for those with mobility issues, as they would have difficulty getting in and out of the bath). It was very hot weather and only one opening window. The fan helps, but could do with air conditioning. The room is fine for a couple of nights. We had an enjoyable atay

Fabulous room. Sadly as it is an old building I could hear everything happening in the room above, this included a very heavy footed person. Bath is very luxurious. Great high quality tea and coffee but no decaf tea.

To be honest it was very loud from the gig place from across the road (Saturday) but it calmed down & it was quiet for the rest of the stay in spir of the house's very central location (& lots of good music in town). I had an issue with the window & appreciated that the hotel owner responded & resolved the situation. The rooms are lovingly decorated & warm, and the bed was very comfy.
