I want stay again
Very conveniently located, pleasant and professional staff, nicely equipped kitchenette, on-site restaurant was good. Only caveat (and this won't be a problem for everyone) is that there isn't on-site parking; you have to source your own but all the streets around there have time limits on them so it's a ticket waiting to happen. Definitely partly my fault for not checking; it just didn't occur to me that a city hotel wouldn't have *some* kind of parking arrangement for guests. Otherwise though a pleasant and easy stay.
Great Location! Friendly staff. Bit of a hassle for parking .
Central location, very clean and comfortable. Helpful friendly staff.
Stayed here for two nights with my family in a one bedroom apartment which was a double in the main sitting kitchen area and two singles in the other room. The negatives were that there was lots of miscommunication in regards to my accor membership and discounts. Also i was supposed to have a full bottle of wine in my room on arrival and there was not, after asking they handed me two mini bottles (which doesnt add up to a bottle). I checked in at 4:30 and my room was not ready yet. The air conditioning was incredibly loud all night and it was needed as there are no windows or fans for natural airflow. There arent blackout blinds or curtains offered in the main room where the double bed is so its very bright in the morning with the sun beaming in the sides of the wind down blinds. Road work comenced at 7am on the Saturday morning and the beeping woke me and my kids up. You could hear everything's from the street, windows very thin. Good things were the rooms were tidy and a decent size, the beds comfortable and was self contained which ment we could prepare our own food if need be. The parkig factor with this hotel is a big negative. No parking provided except for half a dozen public spots out the back which u have to wing it to get but if u do you have to make sure ur feeding the metre 2 hourly and are there 8:30am to pay or you willl be booked. Its veey confusing and despite whats said the canberra centre car park is $5 a night on the weekend and is a 10min walk.
We were heading to Canberra for the weekend and decided to use one of our free nights so looked for somewhere a little bit special. The Sebel was a lovely hotel in the middle of Canberra but we did find it odd that they didnt mention parking in their listing. Its probably because, as we found out after our booking was confirmed, that there is NO ONSITE PARKING!!! The nearest parking is in the Canberra Centre which can require you to haul your luggage through a shopping center when checking in and out. If you are flying in to Canberra and will be using taxi's and UBER then I would recommend this lovely Hotel. However if you are driving there and having a longer stay I would seriously consider how often you will be needing your car and how far you are willing to drag your bags. Also as I am a "Silver" member I was promised a bottle of wine on check in.......what I actually got was 2 x 187ml bottles so really only half a bottle of wine :(
Pros : Apart from our initial experience, staff were really nice and helpful. Bar/ restaurant is lovely and location was great. Cons - Not an overly positive check in experience, We had 2 non smoking rooms; 1 smelt of cigarette smoke and had a big burn hole in the carpet and the other smelt like someone had just had a big cook up. As like many other comments here, parking was quite inconvenient (rooftop of shopping centre carpark). By the time you go from hotel to the rooftop of the shopping centre carpark and walk back to the hotel, its about 20-25mins.
loved the stay, central location, Parking does get full but parking at Canberra Central on weekends for $2 does the trick
We loved that there was a kitchen for us to cook our own meals. The location was so convenient to walk to everything. However we wish there would have been parking facility near by or a deal with parking lot near by to park.
Checkin was quick but I didn’t get the bottle of wine that was suppose to be part of the VIP perks. Parking was also difficult - probably not the best option if you’re driving to Canberra
