Pyeongchang is a county in Gangwon Province famed for being the home of the 2018 Winter Olympics, as well as for its national parks, temples and living history museums. To get immersed in early 20th-century life here, visit the Lee Hyo-seok Culture Village, a living museum exploring the life of the early 1900s poet. The area also has several Buddhist temples, many dating from centuries ago. Among the most notable is Woljeongsa Temple, which features an octagonal pagoda that stands 9 storeys tall. The Woljeongsa Temple and Fir Tree Forest offer traditional architecture surrounded by majestic trees.

To enjoy a bit of serenity head for Herbanara Farm in the Heungjeong Valley, where you can wander among 7 themed gardens featuring native and exotic plant life. Family fun can be had at Ocean 700 water park with its thrilling rides, water slides and wave pool, as well as food, entertainment and games. At Wellhillipark you can enjoy the Hyundai Sungwoo Resort, which is a ski resort in the winter and a water park in the summer, and also offers hiking trails to explore.
