The Kuala Lumpur Light Rail Transit (LRT) is a public rail transport service that runs 2 major routes, the Kelana Jaya LRT line and Ampang LRT line.
The Kelana Jaya LRT line operates an approximate 27-km course from north to south, between Kelana Jaya (in the Klang Valley, 17 km from the heart of KL) and Gombak (16 km from the city centre). The Ampang line is broken up into 2 destinations – travelling a distance of 20 km and 11 km respectively. Both routes start at the Sentul Timur LRT Station in the north of Kuala Lumpur, with the 1st route ending in Sri Petaling in the south, while the 2nd course ends in Ampang in the eastern suburbs of the city.
Timing
Our handy Kuala Lumpur Light Rail Transit (LRT) guide will point you in the right direction of the best-known landmarks close to several LRT stations, particularly those that are noteworthy to out-of-town travellers. The LRT operates between 6 am and midnight, with new trains arriving once every 3 to 15 minutes.
Be advised that the train lines get particularly busy from 7 am to 9 am and 5 pm to 7 pm, when office workers use them to commute back home to suburban neighbourhoods surrounding the city centre.
1. Kelana Jaya
The 1st stop on the Kelana Jaya LRT route, the Kelana Jaya LRT Station is one of the most frequently used stops for Klang Valley residents who work in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. As a result, expect to encounter a lot of commuters heading into the city during the morning office rush, and the same amount disembarking at this station from 5 pm onwards.
Surrounding the Kelana Jaya LRT Station are rows of atmospheric storefronts, local offices, and a local medical diagnostics centre. There are also a few casual and trendy local restaurants.

2. Taman Bahagia
The Taman Bahagia LRT Station is in a largely residential neighbourhood in Petaling Jaya. The station is just 1 km from the end of the Kelana Jaya LRT line.

4. Asia Jaya
The Asia Jaya LRT Station is just 550 metres from the Armada Hotel and Hilton Petaling Jaya, allowing hotel guests easy access to public transport. The Tun Hussein Onn Eye Hospital is 450 metres away from this stop.

5. Taman Jaya
The Taman Jaya LRT Station is a great stopover for tourists looking to enjoy a local and laidback shopping scene. Just next door to the station is Amcorp Mall, a popular shopping centre known to locals for its weekly weekend indoor flea market.

7. Kerinchi

The Abdullah Hukum LRT Station is just across the Sungai Kelang River, less than 2 km from Mid Valley City.

The Bangsar LRT Station is set in the Bangsar neighbourhood, just 6 km from Kuala Lumpur city centre. Nearby attractions include malls like Bangsar Shopping Centre, Bangsar Village I & II, as well as a lot of quirky street-side, standalone local boutiques, and award-winning restaurants.

The KL Sentral LRT Station is certainly a popular jumping-off point for travellers looking to access other areas of the city. It's next door to the 8-storey Nu Sentral Mall, which houses international brands, as well as entertainment offerings like a movie theatre and gym.
Alighting at this station will put you within easy reach of other public transport links. You can take the intercity monorail train to central city hotspots, express train to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and KLIA 2, or Komuter train to the outer city limits.

11. Pasar Seni
The Pasar Seni LRT Station is a popular stopover for locals especially during weekday lunchtime, when office workers head to this atmospheric neighbourhood for inexpensive lunch meals at nearby Chinese hawker restaurants.
Besides that, the station is close to Petaling Street, a colourful and electrifying avenue best known for offering a variety of inexpensive knick-knacks, from souvenirs to handicrafts.

12. Masjid Jamek
The Masjid Jamek LRT Station serves as a great stopover for those who wish to visit the KL Forest Eco Park, Dataran Merdeka and Central Market – all are within an 850-metre walk of the station.

13. Dang Wangi
The Dang Wangi LRT Station is an underground station along Jalan Ampang. If you head southwest and make a right turn onto Jalan Sultan Ismail, you will reach Hard Rock Cafe KL. A left turn will take you to the award-winning Villa Danieli restaurant. Both restaurants are within a 750-metre radius of the station.
14. Kampung Baru
The Kampung Baru LRT Station is set in a residential neighbourhood in Kuala Lumpur city centre.

The KLCC LRT Station is close to the Petronas Twin Towers, one of the most famous Kuala Lumpur attractions. It's just a short walk from the station’s entryway.
The station is between Suria KLCC and Avenue K, making it a great jumping-off point for travellers looking for easy access to one of the city’s busiest malls. MapaAmpang Light Rail Transit (LRT) line
The Ampang LRT line is divided into 2 routes – the Sri Petaling LRT line and the Ampang LRT line. These trains are mainly used as commuter links to convey office workers from far off city suburbs to the heart of Kuala Lumpur.
Each line starts at the same stopover, Sentul Timur LRT Station, all the way to Chan Sow Lin LRT Station, passing a couple of noteworthy city landmarks that would be of interest to tourists.
From then on, each diverges onto a different path – the Sri Petaling LRT line ultimately ends in Sri Petaling LRT Station, travelling a 20-km distance. The Ampang LRT line’s final destination is the Ampang LRT Station, stretching across a 13-km expanse.
Sri Petaling route (18)
The Sri Petaling LRT line has a total of 18 stations, stretching all the way from Sentul Timur to Sri Petaling, a 20-km distance, with several notable stopovers to tourists (please see below). The Sentul Timur LRT Station and Sri Petaling LRT Stations are set approximately 6 km and 13 km respectively away from the heart of the city.
A few LRT stations on the Sri Petaling LRT route will take passengers through the heart of Kuala Lumpur, which makes them significant to tourists. Of particular importance are stations that bring travellers close to city attractions like Perdana Botanical Gardens, the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) exhibition hall, and Petaling Street night market.
