    Byrdies, known by locals as DeGraff’s, is a food truck that stops near Victoria Park in Hamilton. Byrdies is a local secret – it doesn’t look like much, but it’s been serving heaping Bermudian breakfasts, fish cakes, and burgers since 1939. 

    Order in advance for your breakfast, which consists of fresh cod, beans, eggs, and local fruit. Or, stop in for lunch and get a juicy smashed-patty burger and chips. Locals recommend DeGraff’s for its tender and flaky fish cakes. To eat as they do, grab a dozen fish cakes and some sides and head to the nearby park for a picnic with Pembroke Play Ground nearby.

    Bermy Cuisine is the place to go when you want a real Bermudian breakfast. It’s so good here that they serve it until afternoon closing time. The classic local breakfast is seafood-based. At Bermy, the locals come for the fish cakes and eggs. Don’t forget to add a side of crispy potatoes and a glass of homemade lemonade.

    Bermy’s lunch menu consists of classic diner fare – burgers, sandwiches, fish platters, and slices of pie. Grab a homemade root beer to sip with your meal. This rich and creamy beverage is a rare find on the island. For something different, Bermy’s also has a separate menu with homemade Filipino dishes. It’s the only place we know to get homecooked food in this style in Bermuda.

Keith’s is open for breakfast and lunch, though you might want to arrive early. There’s usually a long line waiting for their stacked fish sandwiches.

    You will have trouble choosing a sandwich at Keith’s, but the classic fish sandwich should be your first choice. Others include the meaty breakfast sandwich filled with bacon and sausage. Or, go for other fish options like the tuna or fish cake sandwich. Not in an adventurous mood? The burgers don’t disappoint either.
