The Bahamas is an archipelago of about 2,000 islands and cays, each more beautiful than the last. With gleaming white sands, nodding palm trees and turquoise seas, it’s the stereotypical Caribbean paradise. Don’t go expecting some kind of a castaway existence, though – being one of the richest countries in the Americas, most of the major islands and cities are very well developed.
The warm, shallow waters surrounding the Bahamas are home to most of the favourite things to do here. They're a playground for sailors, snorkellers, deep-sea fishers and all sorts of other water sports enthusiasts. On land, you'll find a good mix of heritage sites and modern hotels, along with a fun-loving culture.
