This Marriott-owned Fairfield Inn in Flushing is a disaster. It feels like a rundown old hotel that Marriott bought, slapped their name on, and now charges nearly $400 a night for. Nothing about it resembles the standards you expect from Marriott.
The lobby is tiny and awkward. Every time I walked in, it looked like the boyfriend of the front desk host was hanging out or even sleeping on the couch in the waiting area. It set the tone for how unprofessional and sloppy the whole place feels.
The breakfast area is cramped, poorly laid out, and unpleasant. At one point a huge loud fan was blowing directly at guests trying to eat. Food was scattered around with little order, and the whole experience felt more like chaos than comfort.
Parking is almost impossible. The lot is so small that some guests had to leave without staying because there was nowhere to park. Inside the rooms you get paper-thin walls, musty odors, and outdated furniture. One shower curtain was too short and flooded the bathroom. Toilets were broken, windows were dirty, and the back door to the lot was unusable.
Add in the constant roar of airplanes overhead, slow elevators, and sky-high snack prices, and you have one of the worst hotel stays imaginable. For nearly $400 a night, this property is an insult to guests. Marriott should be embarrassed to put their name on it.
