People seemed to like to visit the town proper. Hwy79 has a pretty desert view when clear--A marked overlook. Near Old Stonewall Mine you can see deer in the meadow near dusk but this is about 8-9 miles out of town. Also wild turkeys around 7.30 AM

It's very quiet during the evenings and everything closes early. It can be quite busy on the weekends though. Definitely a great place to stay when you want to relax.

Julian is totally clogged with visitors' cars at weekends. Apple pie is the thing here! There's a shortage of good dining options but we liked Jeremy's on the Hill a short drive away. We also loved Kali's Garden Cafe especially the vegan burritos.

This is where my husband and I met 40 yrs ago. Julian is still the perfect little bustling quaint town it was back then. This is a beautiful property off the beaten path just far enough away to give you that secluded relaxed vibe.

Love the charm of the place but wish there were fewer souvenir shops. More local art would have been nice.
"Food was good. Everyone was nice. It’s a little hard to find in my opinion, they need a bigger or brighter sign at their entrance road. I got so lost trying to find it. It’s the dirt road before the Cal-Fire station. That’s where you see tiny rusted sign. Otherwise, good experience! I will be back! "
"We wanted to celebrate a significant birthday and looked at so many different options across Southern California.
However, when we spoke with Orchard Hill--and more specifically, Becky, who gets a special thank you--it just felt so clear that this was going to be the right choice for us.
That absolutely turned out to be true. Our stay was great and everyone we interacted with at the inn was warm, accommodating, and professional.
They even went the extra mile with some really nice touches to add to the birthday celebration.
We couldn't be more thrilled that we chose to spend this special weekend at Orchard Hill. "
