Wonderful stay in this beautiful ryokan with private hot spring bath and a breakfast and dinner that would put Michelin starred restaurants to shame. Everyone was so friendly and the owner popped us in her car unexpectedly to see her favorite cherry blossoms at night. The room was extremely comfortable and well equipped. We loved it!
In here they treat you like a royalty, the staff @ the front desk spent so much time prepping us for a ryokan experience and helped us how to wear the kimonos the proper way. He also helped us to find the best sushi place for our kids (Japanese authentic one) set up our taxi ride to and from hotel and they even made the reservation for us. Not to mention they have the best hot baths and spa in-house.
This is a traditional Japanese-style hotel room with traditional service. The room was fantastic and was the perfect size for two. We paid extra for a private bath on the balcony facing an amazing mountain with a creek below and waterfalls scattered throughout. Be prepared for traditional Japanese meals served in your room by an adorable, kimono-clad waitstaff. This place does not have many English speaking staff members, so it helps if you know some basic Japanese. However, if you don't know...
Hakone Suisen provided the best service I expected. The staff were really kind and friendly, the facility was clean and nice, onsen(both inside and outside) were great, and they even provided simple breakfast!
Onsen is not big as normally depicted in Japanese media(movie/drama) but the water source is outstanding.
Unfortunately, it is difficult to access other restaurants/cafe from the location by public transport, so I HIGHLY recommend you to enjoy your dinner at somewhere else before...
Very approachable for a more cultural, traditional experience. Was very easy for an American foreigner like myself to have a truly authentic experience. Staff is incredibly hospitable, helpful, patient, and capable. My first ryokan experience that I have Yusakaso to thank. Quality onsens, extraordinarily clean.
