We loved our stay in Kurashiki at Yoruya. It’s a small, intimate hotel located on the edge of the Bikan Historical Quarter, within quick walking distance yet slightly removed and quiet (at least when we were there).
The service level and attention to detail were top notch. All the staff we encountered were courteous and helpful and made us immediately feel at home. Upon arrival, our bags were whisked from the taxi and we were offered a personal and attentive check-in.
Our standard room was...
The owner and staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. They, thankfully, held my luggage before check in and well after check out so I could maximize my sightseeing in Naoshima. My room was well-appointed though small, but good for someone who doesn’t travel with large suitcases. The hotel is conveniently located across from the ferry and a very brief walk to the train station. I wish I could’ve stayed longer. Shout out to Max, Minh, Reiko and the rest of the crew (I’m sorry I...
Great hotel overall, ideal location and fantastic staff! The only thing that prevented me from giving this a perfect rating was that the bathroom was quite dated with the finishes. Everything worked fine, just in need of an update compared to all other room finishes.
While I found out that they stopped providing afternoon tea that is still posted on their website, the location is excellent, only 3 minutes away from the charming Bikam district, where you can enjoy the Japanese traditional houses and river side where any generation can find something to enjoy.
Very well equipped apt., very quiet area, clean and in good condition. Much larger than a hotel room at the same price level, and very central to everything in the area. Check in is by a system like a love hotel, so very easy but do look for an email with the door codes.
Location is right across from the old town area and an easy 10 min. walk from the train station. Lots of choices for restaurants and there are several supers close by and a Lawsons on the corner. Eating in is an option if you...
When we first arrived at the hotel, we were a little disappointed with the setting: industrial and strip malls. However, the hotel is new, clean, and well-maintained. We arrived an hour early for check-in with exhausted children and a cranky infant, but the staff was accommodating and helpful. Of the four hotels we stayed in during our road trip through western Honshu, this was our favorite.
Basic hotel. The staff are excellent and attentive. The ceilings in the corridors are low. The mandatory exit signs are low in the corridors, with sharp edges. If you are over 5'10", you will bump your head on these signs. Rooms are larger than I thought they would be. Quite happy with the room, thank you.
