This is Keiko’s family home so it is very traditional and that includes a shared bathroom and toilet, but it is set up in a very easy way. The stairs are very steep, which is completely normal in Japan but worth being aware of.
Our room included a small kitchenette which was handy, but we paid for breakfast (1,500 yen each) which was a huge, multi-dish affair presented...
The property was so beautiful and well maintained. There were 4 of us and the room we had was huge! The staff was incredibly helpful with booking our lift tickets and coordinating with the rental companies for equipment pick up and drop off. They even helped us book a private taxi back to the train station. Only a couple mins from Evergreen ski school and the happo one lift. Also, the little sandwiches and cereal they had in the morning was a perfect snack to start the day before our activities....
Such a great cottage that had everything we needed. Super clean, warm, walking distance to the ticket booths for Iwatake and Hakuba Brew Pub! So much room and comfort. Bathroom was great, the kitchen super clean and had everything we needed. Next time we'll load up the little fridge and not have to rely on going out for dinner so much. The cabins are so nice inside. All light wood paneled and not your typical Japanese insulation; they stayed warm the whole day and night! We will be coming back...
Great place to relax. My limited Japanese was not an issue with the English speaking staff. Went without a car but the free shuttle was awesome, was still able to get to town and back with no issues. The private onsens were amazing, and relaxing. The food was amazing! Lastly, the staff was the topping to the cake as I felt they were extremely accommodating and helpful, they made sure it was a stress free getaway.

First of all, Kaori, the owner happens to be one of the most Nicest and Sincerest person I have ever met that is running a hotel. The service happens to be one of the best I have ever had, especially since they are so personable with you. We took the morning breakfast option and every morning the food was outstanding. I have never been to a place where I felt at home. One of us was sick and needed a ride to the local market and again, they assisted. I have traveled many places in the world...
The spa is great, transfer service was. I’ve, staff very cordial and huge breakfast. Room was very clean and spacious and traditional. Very relaxing stay.
Unazukionsen is a very nice place to visit and the Kurobe Gorge is stunning. Easy to access. Would stay again.
The stay is modest and older but that’s totally fine! The host is so kind and helpful and the beds and bathrooms were clean! It’s def a place you can meet other travelers and is SO close to the train station!
I just loved loved loved loved loved staying here — the owners are wonderful. Extremely hospitable and helpful. It has a local Japanese vibe that you don’t get in some places
