Parking was terrible to find and then was the last person to find a parking spot.
Other wise the hotel was in great shape which was very surprising!!! Some staff were very helpful while others were nonchalant!!!!
The rooms were amazing. We had an outstanding view. I could watch the stunning sunset every night. The breakfast provided was cooked to perfection. Very walkable to some delicious restaurants.
What makes Casa Vela great is the people running it. Barbara, Alessandro (great sommelier), Alessia and Natale. The nicest. Good breakfast and had a great dinner. The best location in sweet Chianalea. This is a hub for good drink and food and happy vibes.
The facility and staff were so awesome, that we stayed an extra night.
The proximity to the mountaintop village of Palmi was a plus. Be sure to visit it when staying at this hotel.

Anyone looking at my review may think that I was lazy, just hitting five stars across the survey. Well, quite to the contrary! This is my second stay at La Lacandiera and as I will be 83 years old next year, good Lord willing, I will be back for a third year. Now, I get it that everyone has their own travel objectives and criteria! But for me, boots on the ground, real people experiences, and time smelling the flowers. I'm not a cruise ship kind of guy, so take that for what it's worth. Five...
The facility and owners are very welcoming and accommodating. We felt that we were staying in a relatives home by the way we were treated by Fabio and his wife. The rooms were clean and the building is conveniently located in village San Giovanni. A wonderful place to stay if you go there.
Lovely boutique hotel close to Castello Aragonese with good beds, very kind and accommodating staff, and a delicious rooftop breakfast with views of Mt Etna in the distance!
The hotel is beautiful with a large room and good breakfast facilities, even though the breakfast itself was quite limited. We loved that it had its own parking and it made it easy to leave our car while we walked to different areas.
