Old Town Colmar
Old Town Colmar dazzles visitors with candy-colored medieval buildings and charming cobblestone streets that look straight out of a fairytale. Wander through the car-free historic center where Gothic architecture stands alongside flower-draped half-timbered houses. The Unterlinden Museum houses impressive artworks, while Little Venice offers picturesque canal views. Traditional Alsatian brasseries and cozy wine bars dot the neighborhood, serving regional specialties and local wines worth savoring. Most attractions are within walking distance, though cobblestones can be tricky to navigate. Boutique hotels in converted historic buildings provide authentic accommodations for travelers seeking to immerse themselves in Colmar's storybook charm.

Colmar Centre Ville
Colmar Centre Ville wraps you in a fairy tale of colorful half-timbered houses and medieval charm. Wander the cobblestone streets to discover Gothic treasures like Collegiale St-Martin or float through the enchanting canals of Little Venice. The Maison des Têtes shows off its quirky sculpted facade while the Christmas Market transforms winter visits into a twinkling wonderland. Traditional winstubs serve hearty Alsatian dishes and local Riesling in cozy timber-framed settings. This pedestrian paradise is best explored on foot, with the entire historic center designed for strolling past flower-decked buildings and artisan shops selling regional crafts.

Quartier Saint-Léon
Quartier Saint-Léon captures the heart of Alsatian charm with its cobblestone streets and colorful half-timbered houses. Musée Vauban offers cultural insights while Saint-Léon Church stands as a Gothic masterpiece among flower-adorned residential streets. This neighborhood lets you experience authentic Colmar life away from tourist crowds. Family-run bakeries tempt with fresh kougelhopf and pretzels while cozy bistros serve traditional tarte flambée. Getting around is easy with efficient bus connections and walkable streets. Charming bed-and-breakfasts in historic buildings provide the perfect base for exploring this tranquil corner of Colmar.

Saint Joseph/Mittelharth
Saint Joseph/Mittelharth offers travelers an authentic slice of Alsatian life away from Colmar's tourist buzz. This peaceful residential haven showcases classic half-timbered architecture and flower-lined streets where you can live like a local. While lacking attractions within its borders, you're just a pleasant 20-minute walk from Unterlinden Museum and the House of the Heads. Family-run bistros serve traditional choucroute and tarte flambée in this quiet neighborhood. Stay in converted Alsatian homes or guesthouses with garden views. The convenient Colmar Saint-Joseph train station connects you to the city center, though having a car helps explore nearby vineyards and wine routes.

Odalys City Apartment Hotel - Colmar Centre
"Location, size of room and breakfast were lovely! However it was let down by inconsistent staffing of reception! On arrival in the evening despite knocking on several, what seemed like office doors and ringing reception we still had an appalling wait for a member of staff! He seemed to also appear from one of the doors we’d knocked on so had ignored our knock. When he did arrive (short male with short dark hair) he was miserable, unwelcoming and didn’t tell us any of the usual information such as breakfast times and location or pool opening times. The pool area also had a disgusting looking area of water that was there before you had a chance to avoid it and couldn’t avoid it if you wanted to access the pool! Looking dirty and not nice at all!"

"Staff was super nice"
Hotel Le Maréchal
"I booked last minute. Room was clean; top floor; view of canal; very tiny. The staff on the first day were polite and accommodating. However, I have insomnia and missed breakfast daily. The first day I requested a coffee and croissants in the patio about midday. Staff were polite and accommodating; did not even ask my room number. On the third day, I tried to request a coffee and a glass of water at 13:00. A tall & thin woman would not acknowledge me at all. So I asked a tall and bearded man who had avoided eye contact or a greeting all three days. He told me in French that there is no service in the patio and the restaurant is closed, which I understood perfectly well. However, he had to be condescending and repeated what he said in English, since “I did not understand him!” His arrogance was abundantly clear. He said he’d bring an espresso; I repeated my request for a black coffee; “an Americano,” he asked condescendingly. I again explained: a cup of black strong coffee! The tall thin woman brought the coffee; I repeated my request for a GLASS of water. She brought a tall bottle instead, without the cap, and asked my room number. I replied in French because I was very annoyed at this point. As well, I had asked the head housekeeper earlier for a bottle of water in my room; she rudely said I had to get it from room service myself!! I’m a seasoned traveler, respectful, a well-dressed/groomed woman who knows three languages fairly well, and two fluently. I will not return."
